Default Lots Of Questions

Hey, I'm pretty new in the world of CRX's, I'm looking into what I want to get for my first car and a 88-91 Civic/CRX came to mind, but I would prefer a CRX over a Civic (I just like the body style better). Anyways, here's my questions.

1.) How "fast" is a CRX DX and a CRX Si stock? I know DX = 92 hp, SI = 113 hp but I'm just curious how hard it would accelerate, top speed, and handling.

2.) If I got a CRX DX (which I'm thinking of getting since there's one nearby me for pretty cheap) how much of a gain in speed would I achieve from swapping out the engine for the Si engine?

3.) Where in the heck do you find aftermarket performance parts for ZC DOHC engines? I can't find barely any parts for them.

4.) Other than the engine, is there any differences between CRX DX and CRX Si?

5.) Upon upgrading a CRX DX/CRX Si to a ZC engine would I need to upgrade the axles or change the transmission or anything else?

6.) Is upgrading to a B16A 1st gen over a ZC really worth it considering it only adds roughly 30 horsepower over the ZC engine and it costs ~$500 more than ZC, not to mention you have to buy the Hasport motor mounts ($400) and Hasport axles ($400)?

7.) If I were to buy a CRX DX/CRX Si with the stock engine(s) (92hp/113hp) and I bought and installed DC sports headers for example, would I be able to use them on a ZC DOHC engine or would I need to buy new headers?

8.) (Kind of same question as #7), but if I bought a CRX DX and installed DC sports headers and then I bought the CRX Si engine and installed it, would the headers still be compatible?

Sorry, I know that's a hell of a lot of information I'm asking out of you guys, but I'm just so clueless about this kind of stuff and I'd like to know a little bit more before I seriously consider buying a CRX for my first car. Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Lots Of Questions (Honda-Stealth)

Im not sure what u mean by how "fast" these cars are, but there definatly not made to be fast like a ferrari, m3, and so would be, so squash thinkin fast till u know what ur getting.

Theres a few differences between the dx and si's other than engine, body for example is different theres a sunroof on a si not on dx, interior is nicer including different colors liek black and so on... engine, of course u should know by now from looking into the dx it is not mpfi whereas the si is and would need to be converted while swapping.

And i dont think that it would be worth it to buy and install a b16 over a ZC, or any d16 engine that u might already have. i say stick with what u get in a si or if u intend to buy a dx, swap to zc or b16 if u are not satisfied with the stock engine. b16 = too much hassle for you im assuming. Good Luck!

ZC motor is a direct drop in if your engine has mpfi. If not you'll do a conversion harness wich is like $150. A b16 is not worth it at all. The ZC is awsome for a daily driver. How ever a b16 dosnt make power all the way untill top of the power band and thats not so driver friendly.
You can use the DC headers from another D series motor you will just have to port match it.
Check out http://www.thezcr.com for more info on parts and stuff.
SI's are heavier then the DX's.

Theres alot more.
Just to tired
