Looking to buy a CRX, which is the best investment?
Looking to get a CRX to make a beast, but there are many different models and years and I just want to know the best one for the most upgrades. Will be doing a swap of course.

go with 88-91 - for most swaps, the si will be less work, but not that much less than other models - the 91 si is the heaviest - the 88 hf is the lightest (about 500 lbs difference between the two) - based on experience, this can make at least a full second difference in 1/4 mile times. lighter is better!!

OK.... for hardcore all out racing, an 88HF is your best bet, period.
But if you're into a nicer interior, sunroof, and just a nicer car, period, an Si is the way to go. If you plan on going to the track with it, go for a later year.... if you just wanna spank the ricers in town, a 90 or 91 is the better choice, as you'll still smoke all their sorry asses.....

You want the SI. Yeah it's the heaviest and has a sunroof. But oonce it's stripped down and you replace the roof you have a car that's going to be better off the bat wiring and brake wise than other models.

Also, it's got an 8k tach, the hubs have the correct # of splines for a B series swap, and the front lip is just damn cool

in my opinion..the 88 crx si is the best choice..because its about 2000lbs...so its the lightest of the si's....also it has pillar mounted seat belts..unlike 89-91 ef's..which have door mounted...it has a small pocket on the driver side door...i 'think' that only comes on the 88..but i could be wrong...and...88 will probably be the cheapest...as far as rear disc brakes go...i dont think it makes too much of a difference...i mean sure i'd prefer discs to drums..but from what ive heard...it makes no difference in stopping distance..the 88 crx will still probably stop shorter than the 90-91 because its 200+ lbs less weight....

only 90-91 CRX Si have rear disc. I say go with an HF if you want an all-out fast car and are planning to swap right away. If you want nice brakes, better looking interior, and more potent stock motor, than the Si is the way to go. I would just stay away from the DX due to its DPFI.

as an owner of a 90 Si and an 88 HF I can tell you right now that the 88 HF is a much faster car if both have b16's in them. the Si is a "nicer" car to drive, but you have to take into consideration that these cars are already 12-14 years old and are hardly nice to drive at all.
I do think that the only style's to buy would be an 88 Si or an 88 HF. STAY AWAY FROM DX'S!!!!! You will have un-necessary headaches in wiring. If you get an HF, front knuckle assemblies can be picked up for fairly cheap at any wrecker, plus you can go pick up some civic ex knuckles and have yourself a big brake conversion right away...bigger than Si's. Rear disc in the 90-91 Si's is nice, but in reality unless you are going road coarse driving the drums are just as functional because those disc's in the back are so tinny. But i would still love to have them because they look so good.
in short, stay away from DX's (may as well get an HF if your getting a DX) and if you are getting an Si, i say get an 88. That is all.

actually... i was just tryin to say how its stupid that people think the whole power to weight ratio thing is out of hand.
like somebody sees a crx at the dragstrip and its fast. and they are all like yeah i'm gonna get a crx cuz those things are light as ****.
you can make anything fast. it doesn't have to be a crx. there are fast integras too.
people see my car and think its a crx.. and yes they are stupid. and then they tell me that crxs are fast because they are light.
i really don't care..
