Ksport coilovers, will they settle?
I installed a set of ksport coilovers on my crx and they're all the way down and still have about a 2 finger gap. Will they settle? How much will they settle?

yea, they "look" like good coilovers, but there has been MANY cases of them blowing... do an archived search for blown ksport & see how many threads pop up... alot of them say dont drop them all the way down or u are show to blow them

True story . It's pretty fcking ridiculous actually. Less than 50 miles of road use with preload dialed in and the right rear is blowing out. I need to initiate a warranty claim once I get back. And once I get a new set from my warranty I'm selling them and going Koni/GC.
Needless to say I was pretty pissed. Granted Bay Area roads suck major ***, 50 miles on brand new coilovers with plenty of preload dialed in should not blow out. This was just daily use. I was babying them for break in. No track or auto-X time. Go Tein or Koni/GC.

Re: (1989CivicSi)
exactly what im doing now.... upgrading to koni/gc set up. Mine blew after only 6 months of use. I didnt have the time or any other suspension to put on my car, so i wasnt able to use their "one year" warranty. I was able to drop the font quite a bit, but wasn't too impressed with the drop in the back.

people who say ksports are crap cause they blow are usually riding them to a point where they aren't supposed to be ie removing perches and slamming them which is not their intent.
With my 89 civic running 195 65r14 tires I get 1 finger gap in the rear and can get just past 1 finger on the front. Personally if you want to go lower than this get a proper setup like H&R Ultra Low, Koni Shorts with GCs etc etc.
I've been using mine now for a few months and have tracked them of speeds in excess of 100km/h and have had no issues. Its like anything you use it wrong and it will stop working properly.
Ksports are fine if you use them properl, just don't expect slammage on a EF with them cause they won't.

Re: (firebane)
with your setup and stated gaps, I wouldn't be surprised if yours blew within the year. I wouldn't consider 1 finger gap riding at an appropriate level to allow the piston to travel without using stiff springs.

if i were u i would just sell the ksports before they blow out... i was lucky enough to get 400 out of them with a blown strut. I'm going with a 400/350 manny. I think they should be goo rates for daily/spirited driving

im sure there are people out there that like them. im not trying to sound like a dick, honestly, but some people's suspension standards are higher than others.
ive ridden in cars with ksports, d2, function/form, tein basics and ss. the cars bounced like **** even with a moderate drop. if you brought them back up, they rode pretty good. but what is the point of getting coilovers if you cant lower the car to a good stance and have good ride quality. if they must be high in order to damper decently, with some eibach springs.
ive heard good things about PIC's too. i wonder if Bart will chime in and tell us if he's decided on what he wants to get.
the koni/gc combos have been proven themselves to be the top notch sleeve coilover set up. i'd rather be on sleeves than ride like **** on a full coilover.
**** that works is more impressive than **** that looks pretty.
i'll admit that the koni/gc gets pricey with some top hats, but... hands down it is way better than almost all in its price range
agree or not... these are my .02 cents
