hey guys i have a 91 ef and it has a horrible knocking noise when i turn the driver side wheel to the left but not to the right...furthermore, when i go over a bump it makes a very noticeable burrring noise (i can't describe it but it sounds like "burrrrrr" ) what could it be?

sorry to bump an old thread of mine, but what does the CV axle have to do with the noise? im not questioning the advice i just wanna know the relation!

im asking what exactly happens with the CV axle thats causing the knocking...is it loose? is something broken?

Usually the boots tear open allowing all the grease that's packed inside to fling out everywhere it shouldn't be. The bearings run dry, wear out, and bind up. You should start by jacking the car up to look at the cv boots. They're probably busted.

^^^^^^ that is true but they don't always rip the boot. I have had many b series cv joints break and make knocking noises without ripping the boot. Most of the time they lose there lube and bind up but sometimes they just break or get dirt in them from a small unnoticeable hole and bind. You can rebuild the cv joint instead of buying a be axle but it is time consuming.

yea man definitly an axle. wen you let off the throttle still turning does it stop or maybe quiets down a bit? but defintly a cv axle

alright. thanks for all the help guys.

so my drivers side axle is damaged. is that the longer one? (sorry for the ridiculous questions, i just wanna get the right axle)

yeah that's the longer one. i have a set of crx SI axles if you want em, almost brand new in great shape
