Default KNOCKIN SOUND HELP!WHINING SOUND AFTER CHANGING AXLES!

ok problem is for awhile now ive been hearin a knocking noise when i would turn left.today i just changed my cv joints and see if that would fix the problem but it didnt.he still makes a knockin nosie when i would turn left and also a whining sound also comes up now while im driving.could it be cause i didnt put any lube at the end of the axle?

my alignment is messed up.when my wheels are straight my steering wheel is not.and a grinding noise!all sounds like its coming from the passenger side.anybody know what could the problem be?

First fix your alignment, ball-joints ect. it may help a grip. If its not that, and you already replaces your axles. Its the diff! if it's the diff get ready for a trans rebuild. goodluck

i have the same problem as you. I got an EF9. And what ima do is change the axles again (damn those axles)...... what i was informed is the cv joint that is bad if it is still knocking after you installed them. Did you get reman axles or brand new ones?

i dont think there is a way to verify if the axle is bad if you just look at it when the boot is in perfect condition, because the problem is the cv joint inside the boot,,,someway somehow the dudes that reman the axles did not do a good job...I know it sucks to hear or beleive it,,,but trust me its the axle.

Try lifting the car and while in the air turn the steering wheel side by side and put the car in gear u might need 2 persons and hear for that clicking sound.....

Yeah i was quoted like 1100 once. Well thing is the wheel bearings need to be pressed out and in with a hydraulic press. Its best to remove your knuckles and get a wheel bearing. Take it to a machine shop or any shop with a press. They charge like 20 bucks to install them each.

As far as lower ball joints, you can hammer them out yourself, or ask the shop to press them out also since your going to have them do the wheel bearings.

And finally the upper balljoints, Thats easy since you need to replace the entire arm. Its a bolt in affair.

is it a high pitched tinny sound? or low rumble and groan when driving?

you can check the bearing by just rotating the wheel in the air. it should be obvious if its not smooth.

i did that same job you are about to take ahead of you.
i replaced the lower and upper ball joints and bearings on my ef9.

the bearings you will be looking at about 110 dollars for both.
the lower ball joints like around 30s
and the upper ball joints, by the complete upper arm you will be better off. That will be around another 110.
And to get the bearings out go to a shop that can take it out with a hydraulic press and the lower ball joints also, and everything else you can do it.
