You need to get a adjustable cam gear for the idle then follow fastcrxsi90's directions.

Yea thats what i figured. The problem I'm havin is that I cant keep the car running for me to even adjust the idle. Should it work the same with the car off? Cus i've backed the screw off all the way and tightened it all the way and tightening makes it not want to stay on after startin it, and loosening makes it struggle a bit b4 it dies. The only way to keep it idling was for me to make the throttle cable keep it open some.
And about the cam gear, because its a stock regrind, should it not be off a tooth because the keyway is located in the stock position?

No cam should be off a tooth, even if you bought a brand new cam. Are you following the idle instructions, if I remember correctly I think you need to unplug the iacv, its been a long night so I could be wrong.

I bet its off a tooth.. I put my si together off one and it would not idle. The car is bone stock, the marks are shitty on d-series.

Also, it runs really rich at idle and upon startup. It did this before i adjusted it anything. Theres a good amount of white smoke, which also may just be the heat as well, but u can smell that its rich from inside the car and behind it. My o2 sensor is currently not functioning properly and is disconnected, would this keep me at full rich? And i do have a cel for the o2.

Yes a faulty 02 sensor will cause that but you said white smoke right, running rich usually means black smoke.

Yea smoke's white and that carbon/condensation buildup that stains my driveway is greater now, i think. But its def running rich, you can smell it and i'm gettin about 20 miles per gallon beating on it from my usual 26 beating on it.

hey man, check your ignition timing, even at 1100 it should be *close* to the marks. a tooth off is alot of timing on the ignition. even if the idle is flucuating, it should be fluctuating *around* the timing marks. if not its off.

also, the cam timing needs to be set like stock. if it runs crappy there, try moving it a tooth foward and backward until u get a cam gear. i woudlnt run more than +/- 1 tooth tho cause thats alot of timing your messing with on that one tooth

Yea, ignition timin is close, just a little bit advanced. I should be getting a cam gear and y8 manifold in the next few days so I'll just bear with it till then. Hopefully the increased air flow will help.

1st then reverse. Works every time, and I never get any grindage. I make a habit of it because then I dont look like a tool when I start my car at school.
