Intake manifold gasket re-use with RTV, sound idea
Today I took off nuts for intake manifold to make room for the alternator to come out....The gasket for the manifold stick to manifold side, and it is in good condition... I plan on using Pematex Ultra Grey gasket maker. I want to use it on both mating sides (the metal surface and the old gasket surface)...It has a water channel...Don't know why Honda do it. Maybe they want water to heat up the intake to get better mixture? Anyway... What you guys think? I know some purist may say get a new gasket,,,blah blah....A new gasket is about 20bucks and more importantly I will have to scrape the old one which is thick, hard and in perfect good shape...The intake vacuum is not gonna be a big issue... HOt water with pressure is a concern ...I think the RTV is going to hold up the hot water..If I do the job neatly....I've see people use it for water pump, etc....Any suggestion or comments?
Thanks
Another question just out of curiosity: what if the water channel in the intake was covered?? Will any major issueshappen?

If it ripped, it would be best to get a new one, i have one off a 96-2000 civic, they're 8$, lines up and works for me. But if you absolutely have to re use the old, you can put the gasket maker, make sure it seals tightly.

Replacing one time use gaskets on clean surfaces isnt being a "purist", its proper maintenance being done the correct way and is least likely to cause you future problems.
Suck it up and clean both head and manifold flanges clean, fresh gasket, torque, cheap satisfaction
This is why I spent the $25 on a reuseable thermal gasket, lower iats and heatsoak and use it over and over again.

Where did you buy the thermal one for 26?

NO NO NO, please don't put silly cone on any used intake gasket. This will cause you heartache due to the silly cone being sucked into the engine, then a massive vacuum leak, then a poor running engine. Only use this stuff on the initial install and wait the proper amount of time for it to dry fully. I have personally learned this lesson the hard way, thinking that I had done the right thing. Please replace the gasket. BTW I am old (51) with many years of effing things up as a learning curve. I hope this helps you.

Just buy a new gasket.
RTV doesn't belong on there and it doesn't sound like the gasket is in great condition if it is stuck to the head.
it costs less than $15.

Thanks guys...I needed the car to run...I used silly cone ///I coated the stuff evenly on the mating surface and kept the original gasket which was in good shape no rip no tear...Was trying to wait for 24 hrs to cure...but I need to use the car ...it was exposed under sun and heat for about 2 hours.....It runs good so far..no water leak no vacuum leak.. better idle than before (maybe it's because I replace the alternator??) Don't know how long this stuff is going to last...on the manual it says it is ideal for valve cover, water pump, intake manifold..... I think I will just keep driving till I have an issue, then I just take time to put on a real gasket.

Typical HT thread...
1. OP isn't sure about something, so starts a thread looking for answer
2. HT members answer questions with good reasoning and honest experience
3. OP ignores all answers and proceeds doing exactly the opposite of what was advised

We already told you how to change the ALT. without doing that. IF you do this you will end up taking it back off, having to clean that stuff out and still scrape off the gasket.
Pick up a carbon steel scraper from an Autoparts or tool store. My current B16 I'm working on had 2 intake gaskets sandwiched on. Once i started to scrape it carefully, it began to pop off and i got the stuck one off in one piece.
