Track Day in February Check List
Hey guys I am going to hit a track day in February at CMP. I am thinking of running my CRX as it should be reliable after this weekend. Worked a couple of events last year. Wanted to run but the Honda would not pass tech. I bet it would not even passed a state inspection if we had them in SC. My DSM blew up this week so its time to get this pos running. So anyways here is my check list to get this car running. Anything else I should replace before I go there.
Stuff to fix/replace before the event.
- Finish the suspension which includes new ball joints upper and lower. (Beyond gone)
- New inner and outer tie rod ends. (Beyond gone)
- Install stock Si springs and shocks. (ebay coilovers suck ***, Came on the car. What broke all of the suspension. Stay away from them there beyond junk)
- Install a set of Hawks pads and new rotors. Bleed with super blue brake fluid. Also install rear stainless lines.
- Fix drivers window so it can pass tech. Need to figure that one out. Only car I know to have dam window problems on roll me downs.
- Install rear sway bar as its sitting in the woods somewhere. Car did not have any when I bought it. I am a rwd guy so only installed front one. Fwd seems to like a bad sway bar over a front one.
- Install Cylinder head back on the engine. Dam head gaskets.
- Buy some new tires. Previous owner put on 195/60/15s. Big sidewall. Plus there Walmart brand good year viva 2. Just a horrible tire. Swap to some 205/50/15s. Maybe a set of Kuhmo X/S
- Fix the sunroof. Anything over 60 and drafting and it jumps up and down.
- Fix Tps and exhaust leaks.
- Find a way to lower the stock seat. My 6'3" body does not fit in the car with a helmet. My head rides on the roof with the seat in a good driving position.
- Make sure the oil is good and fresh.
Anything else I should look into changing or inspect before I go racing. I am still up in the air since this car has never gone very far with out breaking down. May try to find another car to run instead of the reliability issues. What do you guys think?
