The door ajar beep is pretty annoying when it is operating properly on my 1990 honda civic dx hatchback. But mine has the super annoying problem of beeping without stopping after the passenger door is opened and then closed while the car is running. It is great that is does this only on the passenger door and not the driver's side! Anyhow, can anyone please tell me how to disable this beep so that I won't have to turn my car off then on again whenever I pick someone up!

Just start cutting wires until it goes away. If your car does not run after this do not come to me...

Or you can find the beeper and unplug it...

the black plastic slider in the door jam controls the beeping and the dome light. you could diconnect the wires to stop the beep, but you will also disable the dome light when the passenger door is opened. I do not know where the speaker for that sound is though.......

the door chime that comes on to remind you the key is in the ignition is under the the ignition. you take off the steering wheel (pry off the H emblem, then 19mm deep socket) and take off the steering column cover (3 screws in think). then youll see underneath the ignition is a little black box. what i did was i opened that box up, and inside youll see two metal contacts. i put a piece of electrical tape to separate the two, so theyll never close the circuit. its an easy way to not have to do anything unreversible like cutting wires, and doesnt affect the dome light.

On my STD hatch I just unscrewed the rear view mirror and unplugged the plugs for the seatbelt warning light...that made the beeping stop.

Did the same in my CRX, stopped the seatbelt beep and door beep. Mine used to just randomly beep whenever.

Thank you all for your helpful comments. The unplugging of the wire in the rearview mirror did the trick, and it got rid of both types of annoying beeping (seatbelt and door ajar)... I am already quite aware when the doors are open and my seatbelt is off, I have no need of a reminder.

I am beyond pleased now with the result.
