My 2nd gear and 3rd gear grinds,,,and i think its time to change tranny oil anyway. I haven't done it or seen anyone do it so i need your help on this one. I heard you drain it and put a hose on the drain hole and fill it up but drain plug is on the lowest part on the tranny i have no clue how to do this, and i need advises on what i have to replace and what oil to use. Thanks a lot

Taking off the pass side tire can make it easier but isnt neccesary. There should be a bolt in the middle/lowest part of the tranny that takes a 1/2" drive. I used my breaker bar. This is the drain plug. Follow the edge of the tranny to the left and up till you hit a larger bolt, I think its 16 or 17mm off the top of my head. This is the fill plug. Once its drained, fill it up until some starts to come back out, shoudl take anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2qts. Put the bolt back in, wipe off the excess. Drive it and check for leaks. I'm sure http://www.crxsi.com has a writeup on it. Its not hard at all.

Edit : As for the tranny fluid I'd try honda MTF first and if it still grinds look into GM Synchromesh. Little pricey but worth it, if that doesnt get rid of the grinds then its synchro or new tranny time.

^ that basically explains it but its a 3/8 drive drain and yes it 17mm for the fill plug
other then that make sure you take out the fill plug first just to make sure you can fill it you may need a section of tubing and a funnel to fill it
if it grinds now it may just be a little low on fluid if it does no stop grinding the synchromesh fluid works wonders

BTW i couldnt find honda MTF or GM syncro anywhere... where could i get it?

For honda MTF go to your local honda dealership, little spendy but its really good ****.

that site says to use oil instead of gear fluid... is this true? should I just use oil in it (ie. 10-30, 10-40) or should I go with the honda mtf??

Nah... there's no way that that site is smarter than the engineers at honda. Try honda MTF first.

I have a d16z6 with a 91 si tranny...the allen wrench hole normally used to filled this tranny is stripped out, and i can seem to find another hole besides the axel or drain hole that i could even attempt to fill it in...is this fill hole that you refer to on the d15 on the 91 si tranny as well, or is this a specif c hole just on this tranny? help...
