How can you tell if you have a vtec-e head
A buddy of mine wants to trade me his built SOHC d16 turbo hatch for my b16 hatch, well the valve cover has VTEC-E on it, that head was for mainly fuel economy right? how can you tell if you have a vtec-e head? i know i says vtec-e on the valve cover but what if someone swapped the valve cover? What other ways can you tell?

Look at the ecu, p07 is the d15z1 ecu, the other vtec-e engine is obd2... The d15z1 is also a d15, prolly swapped the covers. 5 wire 02 is also a sign of vtec-e

I have one of these Morphodite engines in my '95 civic ex coupe.
Originally had a d16z6 engine with an automatic trans, snapped a timing belt.
They found this d15b vtec-e motor From some junkyard in Houston Texas.
Pulled out the D16Z6 and popped in the d15z1. No ecu changes. They used the same auto trans that goes with the d16z6 engine.. huh.. now. I find that on top of ALL That. The ECU in the car is a p06-a02. ..
It Won't rev past 4000 rpm. Now, Today in fact. I was digging around the ECU and found the Constant keep alive memory Wire that goes into "B" ecu #1 pin, is broken. I repaired it. Lmfao.
The car Will Not Start.!!! OMG... POS! I Clipped the wire it starts and runs Ok... huh..!
