help oil leak in spark plug hole
so my #3 plug hole has oil in it.. when take the spark plug out its coverd in oil. i already changed the valve cover gaskets including the ones for the plug holes on top. theres no oil running down the hole. where could this oil be coming from... its on the plug threads too.

Take the valvecover off and clean the spark plug hole with the plug pulled out. Then clean the surface where the seal mates with the head and get some hondabond or RVT (RTV? shoot I dunno hahah) silicone. It should seal everything up. I did that and Ive used the same sparkplug seals for over 4 years now with a ton of valvecover removeals with no problem, accpet I used shoe goo cause I was a noob! ROTFL!!!!
EDIT: beerex has a good point, is your ride burning oil?

oh and if i take the spark plug out then put it back in and start the car theres lots of blue smoke for a sec but thats cuz the oil drains into the cylinder. it happens to #2and 4 too but not nearly as bad.

how would that make oil get into the hole.. i can take the plug wire out and it would be coverd in oil too just the bottom... without taking the spark plug out..

Change your valve cover spark plug grommets again. Don't use anything else except the 20$ part that honda offers. Don't cheap out. You might of gotten a bad batch of parts. Maybe even a stupid mistake like you didn't tighten the valve cover enough.
Don't rebuild or scrap the motor just yet. If it's on the plug threads then your plugs probably weren't tight enough. If it's simply a warped head (over heating) and it's not letting the seals seal, add a minor amount of high temp silicon, MINOR is the key word. I took of my valve cover and found this **** all over the top end...
Valve stem seals and piston rings only let oil thru the cylinder walls and valves, not the spark plugs.

Re: (janz3n)
is there a gasket at the lower part of the tube?? i dont think there is cuz that wouldnt make sense.. but its worth asking.
isnt there a gasket under the rocker arm assembly and isnt there an oil galley at the #3 tube?

Re: (janz3n)
it might be your lower spark plug tube seals under the rocker arm.
check out this link, it has great info and pics:

Re: (88CRsXy)
janz3n,
I'm in the same boat as you. I was asking a mechanic buddy why I had oily spark plug threads on all my plugs except #1, and he laughed and said honda engines always do that when they are ready for a rebuild.
It was wierd because the oil looked really clean on the threads. I was not noticing any blue smoke, but I was going through almost a quart of oil each month, so I definitely have some blowby or valve leaking.
To help alleviate things, I replaced my spark plugs with brand new ones (gapped NGKs), cleaned out the passages (there was grit in there) and retarded my ignition timing some, and it helped quite a bit with my oil burning...now its more like half a quart a month. This will get me by while I'm having a D16 rebuilt.
Good luck, and please post any more info you find about exactly why #2-#4 get oily.

Re: (fireant)
thanks for the info... i really didnt want to swap in an engine since i had to swap out my motor after i bought the car cuz im stupid and its rings were totally gone and i was burning alot of oil.. bought a car for 500 just for the same d15b2 engine another stupid move.. thne i paid my mechanic about 1300 to remove the old engine and put in the new one. this time im going to do it all myself since it seems pretty easy. i already did the mpfi my self so all im going to have to do is drop the motor in and hook up all the wires hoses and go .. since i already have the computer and other stuff wired up. im thinking getting the seals under the rocker arms is going to be expensive anyways.. and i can get a d16 for like $300
