Help I'm getting no spark
I got a 89 hatchback with a 91 integra ls swap. Computer, tranny, brakes, rear trailing arms from the integra into the civic. I bought the car dirt cheap with a blown head gasket. Before buying the car, the guy tried to get the car started. It tried to start but didnt run. The guy ended up telling me the fuel pump most have gone out. So, I got it towed to the house and it sat there for a few weeks.
I got a used fuel pump from another hatchback that was running that was in wreck and going to the scrap yard. The car only run if ez starter was spray into it. Then I left for a deployment. Many months later I came back, ready to attack the problem, but I had a new born and I was getting out, I didnt have enough time to get it running. More months later, I got a few hours to spare. I looked up alot of no start symponths some worked. I tested the main realy, it failed. Went to a junk yard and got 2 and tested them at home. They pass and 1 got installed. Now the car has devolped a new problem, it wont start from the key. I have to use a jumper wire from the postive terminal to the starter. The car dosent have a battery, I have hooked up to my diesel truck. The hazard lights turn on, thats my way of telling if the civic gets power. The car cranks, I see the cam gears and belt turn. I checked for spark, I have no spark. I took the dizzy cap off ( there is no oil leaking from the dizzy cap) inspected the cap and rotor for carbon, there wasn't much on it, but i cleaned it up. Well watching a youtube video of a guy trouble shooting a no start car, he opens the dizzy and puts a test light to a spring on the ignation coil and gets an arc. I went to test mine out, i have no spring. I went to 2 different parts store. Each store had a different type of ignation coil. When I do try to turn the car with the key, on the run postion, the lights on the dashboard turns on and the fan kicks on. I also hear the fuel pump priming. I turn the key to the On position and nothing happens, just the fan cuts off. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Re: Help I'm getting no spark
Won't crank from key:
Check whether the rubber stopper that presses on the safety starter switch at the top of the clutch pedal has fallen out.
No spark:
Check whether the timing belt has snapped or stripped.

Re: Help I'm getting no spark
Ron, I checked the safety starter switch. I don't have one. Is there way I can jump it? or should I accquire one from the junk yard? I got the car runing with ez starter, it ran for about 10 secs. Ill clean out the plugs and put fresh fuel in the tank tomorrow.
For the spark, I ended turning the key to the "run" position. sounds dumb, but in my valiant I can put a screwdriver on the starter and drive off without the key in the ignation. Thanks for the help

Re: Help I'm getting no spark
You can short the starter switch with a paper clip. Just be aware that with this bypass the engine will crank even when the transmission is in gear and the clutch is engaged, creating a safety hazard.
