H22 vs. JDM K20 Type R vs. K24/K20A2Head
I am looking to swap either an H22, JDM K20, or a K24/K20 into an 88-91 CRX chassis. The three criteria in order of importance for selecting the engine are
1. Potential of Block for Power
2. Aftermarket Support
3. Cost
I have a daily driver so I'm willing to invest both time and money into this project.
I'm still learning about the K-series engines, but from what I've researched so far it seems that a K24 mated with a K20 Head will put down a lot of torque and that the larger displacement will allow for more power? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
My friend has a 95 Prelude VTEC that he just crashed so I can get an H22 for cheap, I know a little bit more about this because I have done some work with the one I have in my lude.
The JDM K20, out of a DC5 Integra, is probably going to be the most expensive, at least for the cost of the engine, and probably aftermarket too but i'm not sure about that. But I've heard that this engine has the capability to be built to rev very high and put down incredible power to the pavement if it is done right.
I just want to know what other people have found out and come across, any help would be appreciated.
Like I said before, I'm still new to the engine swap thing, so if there is another big factor please state it and any information you have about the swaps or engines would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

since you are new, you should start with a d or b series. k and h are for the big boys and high rollers at this point. if you have less than 2k for a swap, then d and b are your only choices regardless of how much your friend wants for his h.

if you are new to the whole engine swap thing i would suggest staying away from all 3 listed because they are the hardest swaps into a ef chassis and somewhat money consuming pending which one you pick and how much of the work you do
if you do them youll have to wait for the h22 mounts to come out this month or next or make your own cable shifter custom done how ever you want some people have write ups on here
k24 motor will not fit with out cutting a hole in the hood i dont believe having k20 head will make dif
with sir hood the k20-r will fit with a few minor mods and also cable shifter needs to be custom done
both k series will need ess cluster so ne from 92 and up or i believe sir cluster not sure year
ne more info just search plenty of people have done each and have write ups

I'm debating the same thing for my EF. The K24 bottom end is out of the question for a street car due to hood clearance issues, so the only 2 viable options for me are K20 or H22. The reasons for or against each swap as I see it is:
H22:
For - Cheaper, I've done 6-7 H22 swaps so it would be the easiest for me, more stock torque
Against - Heavier up front, axles prone to break
K20 - lighter, will have aftermarket support for many years to come, great potential
Against - more expensive
At this point I'm think I'm going to wait, while I focus on getting my Lude up & running again, but also hope that in a year or two K20 prices will begin to drop after the new Civic Si's get stateside making K20 series more readily available.

Re: (tangerinebeast)
H22, my H22 90 crx hf weighs in at 2020 lbs without me in it kinda hard to throw up a weight con on that? check out my site goes into full detail and I sale the kit. H22 out of the box have the potential to make 200 whp and 150+ ft lbs of torque. With bolt ons it is achievable to get 220+ whp. There is a lot of parts out there for it the overall design is obviously simpler then the K and its cheap whole JDM H22 swap goes for $2500. How can you throw a con?

Re: H22 vs. JDM K20 Type R vs. K24/K20A2Head
is it possible to swap a k20A engine into a 1998 honda civic dx body with the correct engine mounts? also planning on installing a skunk 2 racing pro series intake manifold with 70 mm. throttle body and a $500 ebay turbo kit. my question is all of this going to fit in this engine bay?
