Default Gas mileage

Ok I finally got my oxygen sensor in and no more check engine light. But the gas mileage still is in the crapper, is there anything else that affects gas mileage? What is the usuall gas mileage a 91 hatch would get? I checked on it and I should be getting around 38mpg but it feels like I'm only getting 28 - 30 mpg. Any help!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are your driving habits? You won't come close to 38 in the city... you sound around the right area... I get like 300-350 depending on how I drive in my 89 LX..

Also remember that your motor isn't brand new anymore...

I live in a small town. Mostly drive to school and back. Drive rt.2 on the weekends to go to my moms. Don't speed and don't drive crazily. Could there be something else that causes your gas mileage to go down?

If I replaced the fuel injectors, would that help? Or ran a different type of oil? I run just plain shell oil.

I would give it a full tune up if you are really worried about poor gas mileage.

Check your air filter, make sure its clean. Tire pressure, a few psi in each tire can drop the mpg a little. Clogged cat, how many miles on yours? Basic tune up, plugs, wires, cap/rotor.

my cars got 162,000 mi. on it. so far it has had new plugs, new rotors/calipers, and the new oxygen sensor I put on it a week ago. Did you mean a clogged cat converter? How would that affect it? And air filter is clean. (new) And what do you mean by full tune up? (oil change, new seals)?

It doesn't sound like you take the car out on highway miles. For the most part, if i drive half highway and half street i can hit near 300, whereas all highway i'd be close to the 330 mark.

Dude, please understand that its an older motor. Its not gonna get near what it did when it was new.

New plugs, wires, cap and rotor... check tire psi, air filter.

Driving in the city will yield you less gas mileage in whatever car you own... your getting what you should be getting which is around what we all get.
