Default gap between bumper and hood on EF's! PICS

does anyone else notice that theres a somewhat huge gap between our bumpers and hoods?? I notice it on about 90% of EF's and it drives me friggin crazy, especially on mine. Is there anyway to remedy this monstrosity? Theres nothing holding it up. Ive tried tightening the latch, messing around with the rubber screws on the sides of the hood, lifting my bumper a little, but nothign works! HELP!

these pics taken from the PICS thread -

granted, the gaps arent huge on most, but they are not pretty at all.

I think you have overexagerated the obvious...lol...

I however am trying to find a way to get my headlights on my 91 EF to sit flush with the corner lamps and not deep set...

Isn't there also a piece of weatherstripping that is supposed to sit there (stock)? The removal of this piece could definately contribute to the size of that gap *runs off to check the ED's gap*

I think the reason why there's a small gap there is so that you can get your fingers in there to open the hood.

what i find weird is the hood sits even with the fenders on the side. The bumper is also sitting very solid and even. yet still, the gap stares me in the eye and laughs an evil laugh....like..... like...... pee wee hermans laugh

but when you pull the hood release, it pops up about 2 inches anyway

Well one of this pics that you have there is of the ef9 front end which is designed to have a gap between the hood and bumper because it acts as an air inlet. However the usdm front ends should not have large gaps where the hood closes and if the do its likely because they are missing the weatherstripping, they have been in an accident, someone adjusted the hood fitment wrong, etc.

I never use to have this problem with my crx but I recently got into a fender bender and had to replace my front bumper support and hood and now I have that gap. Even though my hood, fenders and bumber cover all fit up nicely, that damb gap wont go away.

After I got my car painted I noticed a big gap and I thought it was probably the sorta-fit hood. But it was actually that peice of weather stripping. I pulled it off my old hood and it took care of the problem.

my "gap" is caused by a rear-ender(******* rain and people stopping because they dropped their f-ing cellphone..anyways)..thats gonna be the reason for a big majority of these gaps. i know personally that i intend to try to remedy at least part of "the gap"(with washers and/or bending/hammering/getting mad and saying screw this ) and make the bumper fit more snug at the fenders too..i hope

Japjunkie made a thread about have his frame pulled and fixed, now his looks very flush (see pics below). Maybe over the years the frame slowly tweaks?? Maybe im overthinking it, but it makes sense.

so pulling off that whole strip of weatherstripping closed the gap? hmm.. something to try perhaps...

My rex has a 1/4" gap that bugs the **** out of me but I think it's due to the hood being adjusted higher to minimize the rubbing on the B16 and the WW front bumper. I'm thinking about using something to fill it.
