Fuel Tank Swap '88 HF tank into '90 DX Hatch
Well I have a leaky tank in my HB and my buddy just bought a '88 HF parts car, he said I can have the tank. I've done a search and found lots of conflicting info. Will the '88 CRX HF tank bolt into my '90 Civic DX hatch w/o a whole lot of modification? Also what is the difference in capacity?

99.9 percent sure it'll bolt in, no problems. I'm using an 89 CRX Si tank in my 88 HB, and they were exactly the same.

You're welcome! Hope it all works out for you; gas tank swapping is such a pain in the ***.

Re: Fuel Tank Swap '88 HF tank into '90 DX Hatch (Mr. S)
Yeah, I really wanted to use my CRX Si tank, and put a fuel cell in my CRX, so I would no longer have to F_ck with it again in that car. But I quit my job, can't afford extra stuff at this time, and came across this tank so both of my cars will be in running condition. I really hate dropping tanks atleast now I have a lift to make things easier.

I'll be the first to tell you the HF tank is smaller. I'm running a Bseries in my 90 HF and it seems like Im always filling up that small tank. I might look into changing it out for an bigger one (SI or DX) down the road.
Dropping the tank is kinda a pain. I did it to install the Walbro Fuel pump.

Re: Fuel Tank Swap '88 HF tank into '90 DX Hatch (HandCommand)
Thanks HandCommand. I just found that the HF is 10.6gal. and the DX/Si is 11.9Gal. Thanks for the help though. I don't think 1.3 gallons will be that much difference do you? If anything it will be off set by the weight savings.

Really? I never really got the actual specs. I just knew it was smaller on the HF for increased fuel economy. To keep it light, plus, the HF motor got great gas mileage. Nevertheless, with my B17 I was filling the tank almost every 3 or 4 days. It must be my spirited driving .
Now with the JDM ITR Im in the process of putting in with HASPORT's new Cable to Hydro conversion....Im sure I will be visiting the gas station more often!!!

Re: Fuel Tank Swap '88 HF tank into '90 DX Hatch (HandCommand)
I would rather have the HF tank then the DX..
The hf tank is less likely to go through fuel starvation on long sweepers..
SI tanks are baffeled..
