Yes, the pump is in the gas tank. You will need to drain and remove the tank to replace the pump. The drain plug is on the driver's side of the tank, it's a 17mm.

what are your goals with the car? If you plan to turbo it in the future wouldn't hurt to go with a walbro 255lph pump since they are only $100 from most vendors which is cheaper than most stock replacments.

Only down side is the pump is a good bit louder than stock.

Yea a walbo pump only costs around 100. Although, you will most likely need a upgraded fuel pressure regulator. I believe the cheap ones run around 150.

You won't need the regulator, stock one is fine for keeping the pressure at the stock level. I ran my walbro before going turbo and still have the stock regulator to this day.

Kew. I'll keep that in mind. The car is mostly a daily driver. I'm not looking to upgrade it generally. It's got a small engine (d16y7). I would want to do a swap before turbo. I'm trying to keep it cheap for the most part. Thanks for the link to the pump swap write up. It seems like a good step by step. Oh and noise is not a problem for me I'm running an open exhaust... No muffler on my ricer.

good luck changing the pump out, especially if the pump hasnt been changed in a very, VERY long time...u might need a good friend to get up under the tank and hold it while u pull the pump out.

I'm expecting a friend to help me, and I have some ramps, and jacks also. I try to work smart not hard... doesn't always work that way. Does anyone know what years, and make's of honda's used the same fuel pump? Can I pull one from a salvage, or something of that nature?

I agree I wouldn't trust a junkyard pump. If the car has been sitting for a few years the tank is probably full of rust and the pump has seized. I don't think its worth the trouble to find a used one.
