I have a 91 crx with no name header/ intake and exhaust.
I have a NEW cat.

and today i didnt pass emissions. in NOVA.

I passed the 15mhp test, but not hte 25mph test.

HC (ppm) limit 100 Reading 276
CO% limit 1.00 reading 4.40

help me out. could i be running rich?
What do this numbers mean?

and i passed the NO PPM no problem.

HC = Hydrocarbons = unburnt gas
CO = Carbon monoxide = partially burnt gas

Usually it is the other way around, Fail the 15 and pass the 25 but anyway.

Could be just an O2 sensor, clogged fuel injector, or in need of a tune-up.

Could be a few other things too... so let us know what you have done and what you are going to do. We'll try to help.

well. i did the seafoam , change oil, filter, spark plugs, and new cat.

I forgot to mention is a jdm obd-0 b16.
when i first got the swap, the car had real low idle fuel pressure.
so i bought a FPR and moved it up. a few weeks ago the main relay went bad
and wouldnt prime the fuel pump. So i changed it and i bet it had alwqys been bad and the reason why i had ;had low fuel pressure at idle. so i think will put a
gauge and check that out. and maybe buy good spark plug wires.
Also i forogt i was running 87 . Do you think getting 93/94 will help?

If you haven't checked it check the cap and rotor. Make sure the rotor is tight. Did the tech check your timing? Just a couple of degrees matters.

FPR. Do you mean an adjustable FPR. Because I would fail it for that alone. None are CARB legal.

Make sure the fuel pressure is correct with the vacuum line connected and without it connected.

Nothing on the O2 sensor... If you went and got a new cat I would get an new O2 sensor. The O2 sensor is the most important sensor when it comes to air/fuel problems. And also it is suppose to vary 8-10 times a second to provide O2 to the cat so it won't burn up.

I would run 87 because that is what the manufacture recommends.

since im obd-0 ... and i have 2! o2's ... which do i need? are they both the same?

87 is the recommended on a b16?

also bsince is an obd-0 b16, it has two sensors on the header. are they both the same?

Yes, they are both the same. One measures #1 & 3 and one measures #2 & 4.

Could be one or both. and you really need a scope to see if they are bad.

well I had that problme with my rex when I was going to get a reff I changed my cat out and did it for me but I conferted to obd1 but should work...

looks like im getting spark plug wires for my HC problem since the plugs are new. -50 miles and whole distributor has about 1000 miles. my timing could be slightly off but i doubt it. and im also making the guy put a fan infront of my car. it was 95 degress in there !

and new o2's sensors and a Fuel pressure gauge to adjuste my FPR. for my CO% problem.

this should fix my problem correct?

you can buy universal o2's for your crx and splice them with the existing plugs

Wires do not play a big part unless you have a miss or the connectors are oxidized.

When you check the FP check it at idle and at the rpm the tests were done at.

You can splice the wire for the O2. Just go universal.

Yes, the fan plays a big part. Tell him that it is required for temps above 72 degrees.

i will def tell him to put the fan on. i dont know if it is req' here in Virginia, but he seemed cool . hmm . well let ust say water got into the spark plug holes on v.c. before. so it might not be upto par' . they are not old .. maybe 5 months. but that water getting in there a few months ago might have messed them up a bit.

im trying to find a pressure gauge for the fuel. so far 2 hour of going from place to place with no luck. and it sucks . crx with no a/c = hell

but i passed the 25 mph Co, and HC. now i failed 15 mph CO% ..

by .2 % . ..
what can i do now?

what kind of gas you use when you went in for the test and was it over half tank? could you scan your emissions paper on here so I can compare it to my since I pasted LOL...
