DOHC ZC - why did my back cam lock up?
I just droped a dohc zc in my 91 crx it ran great for like 3 days on the 3rd day i was driving doing like 60 in 5th gear i head a squealing sound and then my car slowed down i didnt know what was going on so i down shifted and then it just stopped runnig so i pulled in to a parking lot. When i looked under the hood my timing bealt had almost no teeth in it and it was behide my cam gears... so i was thinking it was just a defect in the belt didnt think much aboult it so i put a new one on then i tried to start it the back - intack cam wouldnt move the belt just jumped the teeth in the cam gear. I dont know what made this happen. I have'nt pulled the head off just yet. But i have never heard of some one bending vavles goning 60 in a low rpm.
Help if you can any feedback would be helpful.
Thanx-Holloway

doubt its the dizzy, just take of the valve train, sounds like ur head was starved of oil and locked up the cam shaft, in most cases the camshaft snaps.. thats how i bought my rex, with a broken cam shaft, got it for cheap

I would have my money on the distributor also, I've seen someone put a distributor on upside down and it locked up the intake cam also.

do this, take out the distributor...3 bolts and when you take it out, try and turn the little thing that goes on the inside...it looks kinda like a wingnut...if it is very hard to turn or wont turn, that is your problem...which more than likely its going to be...

Well yall i found out what it was the second from the distrputer cam bearing had a clump of missing and was stuck on the other side where the oil whole is or now was this stopped the cam from moveing - this explans the sounds and the locking up of the cam and this caused the timming belt to break. so now its time for a lil head work. it will be fun cant drive it for a while
