Sputteing/Bogging CRX when accelerating
OK, i am posting this for my buddy. he just picked up a bone stock 91 CRX HF. original owner said the motor had a blown head gasket, so my buddy picked it up knowing this. he replaced the head gasket, also did the timing belt, water pump and did a tune up on it. he is having a bogging issue with it. it idles fine, but when he presses on the gas the car starts to bog out and sputter like crazy. any ideas?
like i said the car is bone stock with original motor. mileage on the motor is unknown because the gauge cluster was swapped out, and according to him there are no CEL.
Thanks in advance guys.

have you guys done the basics, check the timing both belt and ignition? my old motor would do this when i had it a tooth off

Timing and/or poor compression issues. My car had poor compression in two cylinders and was giving me the same symptoms. I replaced the head gasket and it ran like new. If the timing belt was off a tooth, it would lack power and have slight hesitation... at least that's the case in my experience.

he said timing was dead on. he was supposed to double check it over the weekend. and he already replaced the head gasket.
