Default D16y7 swap and Problems running... No Fuel, No Spark

:EDIT:.... specifically 1989 Civic DX hatch wiring (multipoint wired in)
so the Fuse underdash is different than the 90-91...

First off.. i searched a ton of pages and threads.. so i decided to post.

Any help is much appreciated!!!!! i really need to get my daily driver back on the road..!

I just swapped a D16y7 into my hatchback over the last few weeks. Instead of starting right up, its cranking but not turning over, with no spark, and the injectors aren't spitting fuel, but the rail and fuel filter seem to be getting fuel?

I have checked all of my grounds, and relocated them a few times. The lights turn on fine as well as cluster clock etc..., the starter seems to be working fine
'
It seems as though my fuel pump isn't making that hissing/clicking sound when i go to crank it!!!??.. I'm not sure if there is anothe reason for this, or my Distributor (coil) is bad and so is my fuel pump?.. but seriously.. how often do fuel pumps go in our cars?

so

- no spark
- no Fuel to Injectors

Details:

Full MPFI conversion (car was DX) had a D16a6 in there, but i had to replace it with the Y7. D16a6 was running fine with the MPFI swap, untill the head gasket cracked. So no wiring problems. Complete A6 wiring and parts.... Intake manifold, Distributor, Exhaust manifold, etc etc.... Y7 Alternator

--Checked Grounds
--Wiring is fine.. and tried switching the two white wires on the distributor.. nothing
--tested the electrical lines to the fuel pump by jumping it with a car battery charger...jumped from under the rear seats... electrical wires seem to work, spits fuel from Filter when screw is unplugged.. but not from injectors...Bad Pump????or Clogged Filter???
--Put Spark plug to unplugged spark plug wire, while trying to start... no spark or just a very small spark.. no arch \

Like i said.. the Cranking sound is very healthy... just no spark and Fuel

Thanks...

Chris, did you check this fuse? I tried doing some research for you and this seems to have worked for some people....

Either that or switching the wires for the crank angle sensor on the dizzy, which is what I think you were doing yesterday.

Bump for you either way buddy

Bump

ok so Main Relay was kinda checked. It should be the one that says MITSUBA on it.. i found that one. But the strange part is, unerneath it, it says Turn... thinking turn signals?.. we tried turning the key with the plug out, and the blinkers didn't work... then we put it in and it did. So maybe the Main Relay controls that too?..... which is weird because it only has 2 prongs.. and it is the only one that Says Mitsuba. The only other plug that is like it, has 4 plugs, when i take that one out, the car doesn't crank.. but does when i put it in, so that one is working..

Any ideas guys?.. still no spark.. no fuel to rails...

gonna do some more searching

When i was having that same problem it turned out to be the ground that goes connected right above the thermostat housing. I know said you checked your grounds, and the main relay, but it really sounds to me like one of the two is the culprit. Good Luck hope you find the problem

thanks.. i'll check that tomorrow.. it might have came lose... i quickly checked it cause i put it on when i bolted everything up before the rest of the grounds.. but its worth a try.

I'm gonna check the relay tomorrow.. mayb even take it apart and-resolder the connections...

It was either the thermostat housing ground or the main relay. We got it running today and we don't know which one to account it to

FOR ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM

ok.. i'm kinda disapointed in no solid information.. so for anyone who ever has this problem, it can be Searched...... Unfortunately i didn't search enough, and did a few more key searches as i learned what my problem was, and fixed it accordingly.

Even though i've been fuking with engine swaps for a while now, i never really understood, or had to replace a Main Relay luckily, but kind of not because i never had the chance to understand it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll have to read into it more, but i'll assume that the main relay Under the Dash, behind the Hood Latch, needs to be grounded from the wiring harness coming from the heater control Valve, or it WILL click feverishly when you turn the key to the Accesory position, which is telling you there is a bad ground.

Every ground on the car, which most people will assume, needs to be thouroughly grounded, and sometimes even sanded(which i did) or cleaned if it is an older car. My Thermostat Ground ( which on my 89 dx harness wired for mpfi) had two grounds under a screw on the Thermostat HOusing, which is very important, and if not tightened correctly, will not ground.

No Spark... No Fuel....

In most cases, this is controlled by the Main Relay, and if disfunctional, you will get no spark whatsoever, and no priming of the fuel pump.

--Main Relay-- What i did was Re-solder the connections on the back of the Main Relay Board. All of the connections that looked corroded or cracked around the middle of the solder. The Main Relay then worked Great, i just didn't have the ground connected yet, so the Relay Clicked away.

Thermostat Housing Ground- Tightened the Thermostat Housing Ground, which was the problem of the clicking of the MR.. W/out the Thermostat housing Ground, it seems everything else in the Car works electrically, and the Car will also crank, but you will get no Fuel and Spark, because that ground is needed for the Main Relay which in turn controls spark and fuel prime/pump
