D16 Block W/ Y8 Head
Alright i just completed the y8 head mated to the D16 Block swap today. I know alot of people were wondering what timing belt to use and everything else.
Head gasket: i used the Y8 headgasket cause it bumped my compression up to like 10.8
Timing Belt: I went with the Y8 timing belt, it is a very tight fit. Im a bigger guy and it took two of use to pull the belt over the cam gear for the first time. I would recommend getting a new tensioner also.
Really thats about. Good Luck if you have any more questions let me know

Re: D16 Block W/ Y8 Head
so instead of buying a belt that fits nice and not stressing everything you put one on thats tight as **** and you have no way to tighten the tensioner lol ill go with the b7 belt thanks

Re: D16 Block W/ Y8 Head
it still has slack in it, there is no stress at all, if the timing belt made a real bad noise like it was to tight i would switch to the b7 belt but it dont so its fine. it also could have been the fact that i didnt change my tensioner so i was hanging up a little. but i did it successfully so thats all that matters, but from what i read you can use the b7 or y8 belt
