d15b7 vs d15b2
I have a D15b2 with a hole in the block... can I use the block from a D15b7? What are specific differences between these engines?
piston volume, bore/stroke, cylinder head volume, valve size, cam specs, sensors... etc.
can i take a d15b7 and put the d15b2 dpfi intake on it and bolt it into my 1988 civic without further modification?
thanks,
-tony

Not sure of the specs but the two engines are basically the same...
What I just did was the exact opposite of what you are proposing:
Someone just gave me a '95 Civic with a blown D15B7
and I replaced it with the D15B2 I had left from my swap..
I swapped out the intake manifold,exhaust manifold,distributor,
and crank pulley for the power steering and the others sensors were the same..
The upper radiator hose connection was slightly different so
I used a crx upper radiator hose.
The coolant pipe that runs from the water pump has an extra nipple on the D15B7
which you can cap it or exchange it for the one on the D15B2..
The one thing that is different is the location of the fan switch
which was moved from the back of the block up to the thermostat
housing.[The B7 block is not tapped on the back at least not in my case..]

Re: d15b7 vs d15b2 (88DXCRX)
I thought the d15b7 was an 8 valve and the d15b2 is a 16 valve. I don't care about the internal difference as long as it will fit. So basically I could swap the distributor, manifolds, and sensors and it would bolt up?

I think the 8 valve was a D15B6
see: http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/engine.html
The blown D15B7 says 16 valve on the cover...
