Cusco lower tie bar installation + pics
An adjustable bar like the Neuspeed one would have been easier to install - the Cusco bar is not an adjustable type. Here is the placement:
There are slots at each end of the bar, but there was not enough adjustment there to reinstall both bolts without hitting the "eye" that surrounds the end of the bar. The respective shoulders (the built in washers) of said bolts hit the "eye". I found a way around this problem, but the clearances are tight. Here's what I mean:

My technique for getting this bar to fit was;
1) install a bolt on one side, mostly threaded, but with some movement.
2) begin to install the other bolt
3) place a jack underneath the middle of the bar (I used also a block of wood & a towel to protect the finish)
4) move the jack up slightly to make the bar flex enough to fully install the second bolt.

I love my bar:
Most of the squeaks are gone.
Rear tires stay planted through sweeping corners.
Time for a bigger rear sway bar!

I read this post with a dial up connection, so I read the text first while the pics were loading. Im saying to myself " what the heck? I have one of these CUSCO bars and it fit perfectly.......his frame must be bent or something.......and then I read other people's responses and saw that you put it on the rear......hahahha ( nothing personal, I just thought it was kinda funny).
I guess if you went through all that modifying, plus you bent it to stretch, you mind as well keep it on there and order one for the front also.
If you have a B-series engine/tranny like I do in my EF, the bar BARELY clears the transmission case, so if you decide to put that bar you bent on the front now, it may not work. It may still work if you still have a D-series engine/tranny.
The CUSCO bar is a very NICE bar. Its looks nice and is very light! I like how the packaging from Japan is like a bag of car parts on a hanger!!

if you put a jack to the middle of the bar to make it fit... you're just making your body flex .. you're not suppose to make the body flex but hold it and make it not flex... if i was you i would take it off and put it to the front and dont tell anyone you did this and hope this thread dies... and when putting on strut tower bars put your car on jackstands so the body isn't flexing.. and the bars are holding it straight :D..

sicc83 - Thank you. The bar was advertised as a lower rear, and that's what I ordered (even called to ask to be sure it was going to be the lower rear tie bar before ordering).

Thanks HandCommand. The bar is not "bent" - fortunately it's not a very malleable material; it flexes instead of bending.
Do you know for sure if Cusco offers a rear lower tie bar? And if so, could you tell me the different part numbers?

XtraFastCRX, if you look at the pics, you will notice the car is up on jack stands (and I am using wheel chocks on the front). That part of the chassis doesn't flex much unless it's under load (like cornering, let's say...); the chassis was <u>not</u> flexing by placing the jack under the bar, only the bar itself. The bar was also not modified to fit (cut, etc.). Secondly, if I made a mistake, then <u>GOOD!</u> - I will learn from my mistake, and get to mount the bar in the correct place. Just to let the thread die like you said is stupid - how does that help anybody that searches?
