Default CRX Timing Belt Change

90 CRX with only 88000 miles. Not sure if the belt has been changed so i plan on doing this soon. I bought the belt, tensioner and water pump. Is it normal to replace the cam and crank seals at this time? Do these have a reputation for leaking or is this just for extra measures?

I never did them with mine, it's all up to you and how **** you are about your vehicles. If it's not leaking i'd say leave it alone but if you're motivated then go for it!

There's a bit of trick to getting that crank seal to seat properly, the first time i put it on, the spring that holds the seal snug slipped off as i put it on, and it wasn't until i'd put EVERYTHING back together and started the car did i realise that it wasn't forming a proper seal. Needless to say, the car dropped its whole sump of oil on the driveway by the time i could turn the car back off lol.

Not saying you'll get it wrong, but if it's not broke, don't fix it

That thing has low miles...

I've seen low mile B18's, under 100k, with leaky cam seals. But on the D's, I seen seals go around 200k. Sames with the crank seals also....

If it isnt leaking dont touch them, just look them over. You'll probably replace them the next timing belt change.

Anyway, if you have the right tools and instructions, those seals are easy to replace.

i just did all my seals and it was extremely easy. cheap too. the total for my three seals(cam, rear main, oil pump) was about $12.

oil pump gasket ran me another $0.79
