Default CRX hf bumper support different from si and dx?

Is the hf bumper support different from the dx and si? I went to check one out and the hf didn't have the fat beam and the support looked a little different.

Yes according to the parts book. The hf bumper support is different than the Dx or Si.
Hf bumper beam 88-89 P/N 71140-SH2-A20
Hf bumper beam 90-91 P/N 71140-SH2-A22

I beleive it is way lighter and has no support to it like the JDM one. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I've seen them...very flimsy and I don't believe it will bolt up to an si bumper....I could be wrong however...

the hf's bumper support can only handle a crash up to 2.5 mph while the heavier and stronger bumper support of the dx and si can handle up to 5 mph

So in other words - picking up an HF bumper support set is a good way to drop some lbs?

C'mon really, as if a 2.5mph difference in a crash means anything in a car this small and light...

I think that the concept of 2.5 vs 5mph bumbers equates to Ins. claims,
"amount of damage sustained by vehicle in _ mph crash" in $$$ sense.
If the crash is OVER 5 mph than the damage sustained by said vehicle
is way beyond the ability of any bumper to do any thing except bend and
crack and break. At that point the bumper rating becomes irrelevent.

Looks very close to the JDM one if not the same thing. If your going to swap a DX bar for that then you might as well remove it all together.

does anyone have a jdm front end? i was using a modified dx support under my bumper, and there was a little gap under the headlights and on the sides where the bumper met the fender. i took the support off and tried just putting the bumper on...and now the gap is gone, but the bumper overlaps where it meets the fenders. i don't know if this damn thing will ever fit right...

The bad thing about removing the support beam all together is the fact that your front bumper will sag then.

I have a JDM front end on my Civic. I used the bracket that came with it and it fit perfect. Did you not get the JDM support with your bumper? If you did just use that. If not just make your own brackets. I made my own on my CRX. I took some time but it fits real good and now dropped about 30-40lbs or so, and has plenty of room for an FMIC. My new brackets just bolt to the upper rad. support.

no, the jdm bumper support did not come with my front end. i used my stock dx one by cutting off the ends. it never fit quite right, as the bumper has always been off a bit...do you have a picture of the jdm bumper support? i heard it looks like the crx hf support...

Yes, the SI bumper can be bolted up to the HF reinforcement beam. I've done it several times. The HF reinforcement is waaay lighter than the DX or SI beams. I have also taken note that the "88" Si reinforcements are lighter than the later years.
