Default crx hf/b16 swap problem

my friend did a 1st gen. b16 swap into a crx hf everything seems to be fine until you put the car in reverse and then the check engine light pops on and throws a code 6 (6blinks on the ecu) some people have said check the crank angle sensor and some people said a coolant temp sensor. what should i check and why does it happen going in reverse? if you never put the car in reverse its fine no check codes. Someone please help!!!!!!!!!

its odd it drives fine as long as you dont do that, but you should check the 2 wires that come from the tranny, they basically make your reverse lights come on, thats the only thing that could be causing that.

usually they have connectors on them by the front of the engine, below the vtec soleniod.

try unplugging both wires, then throw it in reverse. if no problem, then thats it.

its probably just a simple wiring issue, i doubt its a sensor if it drives fine otherwise.....

ahhhhh, my swap did the same thing, searched on here for hours till i found the answer. I unpluged one of the wires from the ecu. don't remember which one. But i didn't throw any codes and it was good to go, everything still worked fine, maybe someone will chime in with which pin it was.

Yeah HF wiring harness' have a wire that DX and SI's don use. Its a input to the ECU that tells it its in reverse. Its on the plug that has 20 wires on it. Its the Green/Black Wire. Its pin 5, if count left to right. Or its pin 9 if u count it the traditional way from top to bottom them left to right. If ur confused jus look at the green/black wire, its between two green wires. Those two wires are also HF only wires. One is for A/C input and the other is for Clutch Input.

It is also a possibility that the back up lites are hooked to coolant temp also

Dissconnect your B11 Pin from your ecu....It was only on the Hf harness...It trips a code b/c on the ecu (Pw0 o Pr3) doesn't have a sensor for the B11 "Reverse Light" From the Hf harness. It's simple just look at your ecu and trace it to your Shock tower Harness connection....Here I used this link and it was pretty helpful when i was wiring for vtec/Ks?o2 sensor/ etc/etc and just in general a good site to read for your b16a In an HF...

i've heard of this happening on lots of hf's everytime you go in reverse the check engine light comes on just back up, shut it off, start it, look like and idiot and go. my friends hf has been like that for like 3 years.
