So I recently totalled my accord, and if I can't fix it it's time to buy something else. I've always been attracted to CRXes - they seem like they'd have really incredible handling, apparently they're fast, they weigh under 2000 lbs, and they'd have a good chance of beating my bastard friend's integra. But I have a bad habit of racing my friends on back roads at like 80-90 mph (something I've cut WAY back on, but still, **** happens and sometimes I just have to keep up), and it seems like such a tiny little car would just crumple into a ball if I, say, hit a guardrail at 60 mph like I did in my accord (which still drives, but not very well). So what do you say, and is there anywhere I could read up on it? Google turns up a little bit, but not much. So far all I've gotten was one thing that said the CRX is "significantly worse than average".

Yea crxs are horriable if you get in a wreck with them. Its not advised to be going that fast on some back road with them. Here read some of these...or you could just look at pictures and get the idea.

I live in Snow country and LOTS of people drive big trucks and just plain big vehicles. Every once in a while I will come up next to an F-350 (or similar) at a stop light and their damn bumper will be just about even with my head!

Yep, thats it. I kept trying to search for it but couldnt find it. I couldnt remember the title to it. Still though if you are worried about getting a crx because of safety then you shouldnt get one.....and here I am replacing my Si bumper supports for Hfs becuase they are lighter........

I always do; even my friends ***** about it because I'm not going at 50mph and not running trying to make it before the light changes.

Well, yeah, and it's bad in anything too. Of course, if I'd been racing I probably wouldn't have smashed up my accord (engine braking + pile of road salt), but there's a pretty good chance I'll be able to fix it anyway. I guess if I do end up getting a CRX I'll just have to keep its sexysexy looks pristine by sticking to something nice and safe like drag racing.

I dunno man, drag racing is still not that safe. Shouldn't be a problem if you do it at the dragstrip. But, remember the person who controls your safety on the road is you. Careful and alert driving is still the best plan.

Honestly, I had a wreck 2 months ago on I-40 travelling about 65-70 mph when I hit a patch of ice, ran into the concrete median, across 4 lanes of traffic and into the guard rail and back across 4 lanes into the median where I stopped. The car ran fine after that for the 4 miles I drove it to an exit. I'm glad that I was in this car, as if I had been in an SUV doing the 360 I did over the course of hitting each object I would have rolled. But in the case of another car hitting me I wouldn't be so sure. Because 'heavy car going 70 mph &gt; light car going 70 mph.

And yes being careful is good. Lets face it there is a huge risk when you get out on the road period. No one can completely control there safety when there are other drivers out there.

If you want something real safe get a Volvo.

i was recently in a rollover, im surprised how well the rex held up.... maybe it was just my crash, but only things really damaged were front bumper, hood, roof (obviously) and rear glass (subs. haha). here are a few pics of it when it flipped.... amazing thing is, (cop allowing) that it drove home and everything....when i get home i will take pics of the car how is currently.... (this was friday...)

Here is a pic of my 88' dx that i got t-boned in by a chevy 1500 that was doing roughly 30mph. I walked away with no more than a sore neck but as you can see the door was firmly against my left leg. I drove it home though
