i just installed a 'direct replacement' carbon fiber sunroof that i bought off the net. the company that makes it also sells it on ebay. here's my review....

the weave pattern is smaller than that of the VIS hoods, but other than that, it looks good.

the fitment is just ok. there is about an 1/8th inch gap on 3 sides but it shouldnt cause it to leak because of the gutters around the sunroof opening.



the install should have been simple but nothing really fit right. it only takes about 10 minutes to get the old sunroof off. you have to remove the old rubber seal and all the brackets/rails. the bolt holes for the rails on the cf sunroof are slightly crooked and off by about a 1/4 inch. plus the rubber seal is a tiny bit loose because the sunroof is a little smaller than the stock one.

tools you need: drill, step bit, drill bit, dremel, measuring tape, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, rachet, phillips screw driver

1. open the sunroof
2. remove 2 of the 8mm nuts from the underside of the rear corners of the sunroof that are holding black plastic stopping clips at the end of the sliding rails.



3. remove the 2 10mm bolts holding the front of the sunroof to the car.




4. masking tape the roof of the car around the sunroof hole so you dont scratch it up.



5. manually slide the sunroof forward holding the front of it up so it can slide out of the top of the car.
6. remove the 8mm nuts holding the clips for the rubber seal
7. transfer the rubber seal and the clips
8. remove the last 2 plastic stopping clips from the other end of the sliding rail
9. remove the 3 nuts (6 total) from each sliding rail
10. remove the 2 nuts off of each bracket on the front corners of the sunroof. these are the brackets that held the sunroof to the car.
11. measure the distance between the holes that held the sunroof to car.(the holes on the car)
12. mount the 2 brackets (step 10) to the new sunroof.
13. measure the holes on these 2 brackets to see that they are the same distance as the holes on the car.
14. if not, use the step bit to widen the holes that hold the brackets in place so that they can be adjusted.
15. mount the sunroof to the car and make sure the gap is the same around all edges.
16. if not, re-adjust the brackets.
17. measure the distance between the sliders on the car (the part that goes into the sliding rails.
18. i had to use the step bit to get the sliding rails to fit at all. then, i had to go back and re-adjust the holes to match the distance of the sliders on the car.
19. transfer the gray vinyl cover off the under side of the sunroof. i think there's like 5 plugs and 2 screws holding it on.
20. carefully drill the holes into the underside of your new cf sunroof for those plugs (dont push hard because you could drill through the top side.
21. use the dremel to trim the built in fiberglass tabs so the cover will fit in there. mine was too tight so the cover couldnt squeeze in.
22. re-install the rails and the 2 front stopper clips.
23. mount the sunroof to the car.
24. bolt on the last 2 stopper clips and your done.

When i installed mine everything was "alright" but the under panel frame that bolt up to hold the rubber in place had no chance of bolting up so I just used rubber sealant glue to hold it in place. Hey it wont rust.

I'm definatly buying one of those to replace my old rusted one. It doest leak now, it would suck if i installed the CF one then it leaked. Lol.
