Click/Clank noise in reverse?
Hi,
I have a 1988 Civic Wagon RT4WD 6 speed manual transmission car. It makes a click/clunk sound when moving in reverse. The sound goes away when the clutch in pressed down, and gets louder/quicker at a higher speed (more gas/more load).
It shifts smoothly into all gears. Runs fine in all the other forward gears. Paper work shows that it has new CV joints within the past two years.
I have changed the transmission fluid with Honda fluid. I have also messed with trying to disengage the 4WD. It did seem to get a bit quieter, but it was on stands and the locking bolt to switch back broke when I tried switching back to the 2WD mode. So it is in 4WD mode now until I am able to figure out how to get the 1/2 bolt out of the transmission housing.
I have looked at the motor mounting brackets by trying to rock/push the motor and could not feel/see any movement.
Does this sound like a transmission issue? If so, any suggestions on what the issue is with the transmission? And would a simple auto store rebuild kit solve the issue?
Any other thoughts?

Re: Click/Clank noise in reverse?
certainly it is a transmision issue, suppose not from gearbox.
check again all differential and gearbox oils.
differential oils sould be replaced after 60.000 miles. If not, the front and rear end differential could dammage and make strange sounds...
