Default Car won't start, throwing codes

Ok, I have a 91 CRX w/ B16A, the car won't start, but it has been throwing a code since yesterday and the car started fine, so I'm not sure if they are related. I don't know how to read the CEL codes so maybe you guys can help. There may be 2 codes, but I'm not sure.

It blinks once shortly, then there is a 4 second pause, then there is one long blink followed by 7 short ones, then it takes a 4 second pause and starts all over again. This is what it looks like with periods and the bold . is the long blink, it holds for like 2 seconds.

. ........ . ........

Oh and it's obd-1.

Anybody? If you can't tell me what the codes are, could you give me a link so I can try to figure it out?

I think there are 2 diff. codes. But, I can push start the car, so there is fuel for sure. I had this exact problem back in May and took it to a shop, and they said there were no grounds from my engine to the chassis, so they put some on and it has been running fine until now, but it's the same problem as before. I turn the keys and nothing happens, not even clicking from my starter.

BTW, my speed sensor is definitely working fine. I don't know why it would be saying to check that, and yes I read the code right, I watched it for like 5 mins.

o2 senor is the othere code
ok take out the battery ok then take a wrench just touch the - and + just fast if theres a start its fine but i would stay batterys not staying charge this happened to me like two days ago

i was gone for a week and it was dead when i got back so i jumped is was fine. intell the next morning it did the same thing. now its fine. have the alternator check at auto parts place. if there both fine u have a wire touching that shouldn't be. a gound or a power wire some were.or a fuse.

distributor not likely the battery isn't holding a charge if u take discont the battery termials and touch batterys the neg and pos to gether it should spark. if idon't its dead. but take the termials off other wise u'll blow fuses like carzy. other words take screw driver that will reach the -+ and lay it on top of them if it sparks great. but take off the termails

Ok, will let you know what I find out about the battery. I'm at work now, so will probably find out in a couple of hours. You were right about the shift linkage, so I hope you're right about this too, battery is a relatively cheap fix.

Ok, so after I got home from work, I disconnected the battery and touched the two posts and it sparked, so I reconnected the battery and checked all grounds, checked the fuses, none blown, then tried starting it with no luck. I decided to hammer the starter and that did the trick. Restarted it a couple of times just to be sure. Now, should I look into a new starter because I have heard once you hammer them they go bad.

does it even crank?

Whats the other code you're getting maybe thats why it wont start..cause a vss code would still let the car start.,.

by the way here are the obd1 codes https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1171263

hope its not the starter that might costed a penny or to i would see if theres not a battery rebuild around a friend of mine his dad works at one a he can rebuild starters and alternators and recycle batterys. he said that it cost about half of what a starter would cost for just as good if not better.

After I got it started, I pulled out the hazard fuse to reset my ECU and today the CEL came on again, this time flashing the same codes, code 1 and 17, I don't understand why it's saying there is something wrong with my VSS, it seems to be working fine.

Yes, VTEC is still working, however it does seem like the car is bogging just a little, after VTEC kicks in, it doesn't pickup as fast as it usually does.

bogging is from the o2senor get a new o2senor. as from the vss i don't know in less theres some thing wrong w/ the cluster i think it would cause the vtec not to work. if u a sitting and u rev up the car vtec will not come on. becuase it knows the vehicle is not moving. but i don't know. u need a new o2senor tho.

Do you have a diagram on how to replace that or where it goes? I know it's near the firewall on the passenger side somewhere.

Ok, I will have to wait until I get home to check that, but as far as the o2 sensor, my CRX has a B16 swap. Do I have to get an o2 sensor specifically for the B16 or can I get any one?

Do you know where the o2 sensor is on the 91 CRX'es? I will just go pick one up and replace it myself, one of my friends did it himself and said it wasn't hard, but he has a Ford.

Ok, thanks, will get a Bosch, but not the universal one. The one at Advanced Auto Parts says it's only 1 wire though?
