Default Can I jb weld my tranny casing?

I was driving down the read today and hit a little rock with my tranny, when I got home and got out of the car I saw a oil leak. Turns out my b16 ys1 tranny fluid leaked out. I found a 2 inch crack in the casing.
Can i use jb weld or has anyone here jb welded a casing before. What other products are out there that i can use for a quick fix. I have a spare casing just dont have the time to pull out the tranny right now becasue this is my work car.

If I were in this situation I would rough the case up with sandpaper at the crack and JB Weld it temporarily until the weekend comes around to change the casing out. Check the oil level daily... put a fresh piece of cardboard under the tranny every night to help you keep up with the leak each day until then.

I would agree with you there.

I've seen JB weld do some pretty amazing things, namely hold a tractor motor together for half a summer.

I used JB weld on my tranny after cracking a hole in it removing a stuck drive shaft. The JB weld has hold up for 2 years now with no leaks. When you do it make sure crack is completely dry, no tranny oil, scrub crack with sand paper or 3m pad, clean area, then wipe with acetone to remove all traces of oil, apply jb weld. I let my transmision sit over night to cure then add tranny oil.
Good luck!

Yeah I had the rear mount break off my CRX trans once.... it pulled the bolts and aluminum with it from the rear of the trans, and I JB welded it back together then bolted that mount back on and it held typical rollback/gear snatching abuse another few months before I got rid of the car! lol.....
