Yes. All 88-91 civics use cable transmissions from the factory. What exactly are you trying to do?

My transmission went out in my 94 civic lx and it's obviously not cable and I know some people with early 90's transmissions but can I swap it from hydraulic to cable?

Sure anything is possible, but it will take a bunch of work... definitely just go with another hydro trans IMO.

The general idea would be to remove the hydraulic clutch system. Next would be to either modify your hydraulic pedal assembly to accommodate the clutch cable or; retrofit a 88-91 cable pedal assembly (or just the clutch pedal part) to fit with the EG chassis. Really, I'd just stay away from the cable clutch... the last thing the world needs is another half-assed and hacked-up Honda.

More effort than it's worth, stick to a hyrdo transmission.
