i'm sure its probably a fairly common problem since 88-91 crx's are getting a lot older, basically the button on the climate control panel that you press to turn the air conditioner ON has no support around it, the button is fine but you push the button and it just pushes through the hole the button comes out of and falls back behind the panel.

just wondering what exactly holds those buttons that are in a row on the climate control panel ?? like is it clips back there ? i just need to somehow re-attach the button so it stays up front against the climate control panel in the hole it supposed to be in.

some little part behind probably broke after years of pressing that button and the part that held the button in place is'nt there i'm guessing,

anyone know how i can get the button secured back how it was in the panel ??? do i need to buy a small part or what ??

The main buttons are integrated into the main chassis of the climate controls. The faces of each button can be purchased separately. But if the internals of the vent selection buttons are broken, your going to be in a world of hurt. Most of the ones on eBay are broken as well (I tried twice to buy one from there), and a new one from Honda is over ~$300. I ended up going that route.

The only button that is separate is the AC button/switch. It's separate and slide in from the front and catches into a plastic snap. Perhaps if that piece has broken off, the whole button could slide out the back. If this is the only button your having trouble with, you could try removing it and replacing it. New it's like $45. It does slide out from the front, but you have to first peel off the sticker surrounding all the buttons. The button is #27 and the sticker is #28 in the CRX. A used button from a Civic will work as well, you just have to peel off the Civic style sticker #29:
