Default Brake lights problem...

Well i just noticed my car was doing this the other day, If I have the lights off and hit the brakes all the brake lights turn on, but if I have the lights on and hit the brakes the passenger brake light does not work, any idea"s on what could be causing this?

TIA

Could just be incorrect bulbs. If the contacts in multiple filament bulbs aren't lined up just right, or you put a single filament bulb in a multiple filament socket, you'll get weird effects when the blinkers and/or brakes are used...
