Default biggest wheels to fit on 89 crx hf.....

I tried searchin really didn't find much on wheels.
was wondering what the biggest wheels I could shove on an 89 crx hf without having to get fender flares or modify the wheel wells in any other way. Also that wouldn't reduce turning capabilities to much.

kinda was thinkin of going 17x7 or if possible a tad wider for a bit more traction.

That's kinda harsh... After bashing on people for this for forever, I've gotten to the point where I don't mind it. As long as they take care and preserve the car, that's all that matters.

6 inchs wide would probably be the max, and don't put and bling bling rims on it please. Just do like the rest of us, get 15s or 16s, and lower the car. The CRX is so small that the wheels look like they are much larger. They also fit the lines of the car better than 17s. Good luck man, and try posting this in Appearence/Cosmetic when you can. They're more helpful with this type of question.

With the right offset 17X7 fits easily under a lowered civic/crx.
But that doesnt mean you should do it

well I don't know exactly what would be considered bling bling rims.
But atm as far as I know my crx is stock which for now suits me fine since I need the HFs economy. and Also with my part-time job I can't really save up to buy anything since I'm going to school as well. But I'm lookin for a better job, was thinkin about taking a bunch of auto classes at my school and then try and get a new job in the automotive area so I'd have some experiecne when i finally did start working on my car....anyways yeah that was really off topic.

ok well I'd probbaly go 16 inch then becuase I was looking at this one brake kit on fastbrakes and it says needs at the least 16 inch.
though because I see traction as being the key factor for anything (even if you got the horse power if your car isn't putting it to the ground you still not going anywhere, same with bigger brakes, even with bigger brakes if your wheels aren't gripping they wont help you out that much)...which is why I want wider tires. I don't think I've seen what a crx with finder flares look like so just wondering if I did that would that allow me to go wider and also not make the car look to much like a ricer?

hey I'm an avid auto-xer and I prefer function over form all the time but I am running 17's on my car when I drive it to the track, and I think it looks good, no I'm not a ricer at all, when I get there I put on my 15 slips w/azenis.

Oh ricers dont have B16's w/lsd full stainless everywhere and full poly everywhere just to cover my ***

anywho I like 17's on a nicely lowered rex

I think I see what you're saying. Just be careful that your rims aren't worth more than the car.

I know that I'm not you, but I'd buy an Si motor first. Complete good ones can go for less than $500, and they're ***** easy to drop in.

FYI, As for rims, look for Rotas, they're fairly cheap, and they make some nifty wheels...

Fender flares would look horrible.

If you want to upgrade the brakes, don't buy a really expensive kit, you can get integra brakes which will slow you down considerably better, and since your car is light, they don't need to be that powerful.

All said and done, you could have new Integra brakes, Rota rims, Falken tires, and an Si motor for less than $1500. It'd be like a new car.

thanks for the help guys, one more guestion.

if I went lets say with 16 or as the one guy said 17 inch rims and if I happen to get them 7 or 7.5 inchs wide would it mess with my turning radius too much?

I have no clue how much it would screw with it... I know that 16s there is no problem. Your best bet would be to go through the pics thread, look to see who has 17s, and IM them that question.

I have driven a crx with 17X7.5 and I hated how them wide wheels grabed every crack in the road and pulled you around.

but did you turning abilites suffer?

grabbing every crack is kinda what i want good traction LOL, I just don't wanna have to like mess with my wheel wells to get my car's turning radius to stay near stock turning radius.
