Best CV Axles???
Who makes the best CV Axles?
Also do I have 23 or 26 Spline Outboard Joint?
I have a 91 Civic Hatchback 1.5 DX 5 speed
I found these 3 brands at my local auto parts stores.
Both are New Axles Lifetime Warranty
Monument Car Parts
DriveTech America
http://www.drivetechamerica.com/
or
Kragen and Auto Zone
Cardone
http://www.cardone.com/English/Club/...Drivetrain.asp
or
PepBoys
PB/FENCO/FENWICK AUTOMOTIVE
http://www.fencoparts.com/index2.htm
Raxles
online only?
http://www.raxles.com/default.aspx
Any recomendations?
I need to buy them localy.
Thanks

Looking for who makes the best CV Axles and how many splines I have on mine.
You trust some kid behind the counter to match it up for you?
If you have no clue, don't answer the post.

"I need to buy them localy."
this should be your first clue, to take it to a local auto parts store. and by taking in your old ones, there are after all core charges, you can physically match yours up to make sure you will not have any problems when you get back to your car.
i work for an auto parts store, and i have seen countless idot customers come in and ask for parts for their cars, but then they come back saying "you sold me the wrong part" or "it doesnt fit right." when you dont know all the right info about your car, you are most likely going to get the wrong part.
that is why i said "take in your axles to the store." freaking idiot. and i bought mine from kragen. i didnt see the need to have to pay an arm and a leg for raxles or any "specialty" swap axles for my LSV. and i prefer to be able to warranty my axles out, even though i havent busted them since i first installed them years ago, the same day and not have to wait for the an online vendor to ship me new ones and me have to pay to have the old ones shipped to them.

Re: Best CV Axles???
The once or twice that I've used non-Honda reman axles, simply because I was broke, at the time, I've regretted it.
I haven't used anything other than the Honda remans over the past 10 years or so. And I've had no problems, whatsoever. Which I can't say about the aftermarket ones I've tried. Yeah they may cost twice as much as the aftermarket remans, but IME, they're good for at least 60K-80K miles, if not more, with no fitment, noise or vibration issues at all.

Raxles FTW. You can buy/replace reman. axles every 3 months or buy good quality new ones (like Raxles) and not think about it again for 5 years. Its up to you.
My Raxles axles are flawless and customer service is great.
For my J1 tranny, he uses the 88 teg inner joints and 90-93 teg outer joints to make it all fit perfectly.

I am the Idiot?
You couldn't evan answer a simple 2 part question. Now I see why you work at a Auto part store.
Why would I care that you know what axles you have on you car?
I Want to buy them at a local auto part store in case i need to exchange them out.
Both of your post have added no answers or information.
If you don't have the answers why add your foolishness?
Just makes yourself look ignorant.

Re: Best CV Axles???
I like Raxles, and they are New.
None of my local Auto Part stores carry them.
Honda wanted $183 per axle New.
So I think I am going to go with New Cardone Selects, with lifetime warranty.

Re: Best CV Axles???
I've used Cardone A-1, new mfgs axels, on our PT Cruiser and my EF. The PT Cruiser aftermarket and factory assemblies have bad balance. From using these new ones, they are perfect, new machined shafts and eveything else...

the guy is asking which one is better? not tryin to be a dick, so please dont take it that way.
if you have a cut rate auto parts store near you do NOT buy an axle from them. they suck. i am about to have to replace mine again, this will be the third time

[QUOTE=macknjack;43046612]
i know he is asking which ones are better, but he also said he wants to buy them locally. thats why i told him only ones he will get locally are at an auto parts store (including kragen, autozone etc...). i gave my opinion, i dont see the sense in paying $300 for a pair of axles that are rated at 3-500hp when his car will probably never reach that power. thats why i also said to take in the old ones and have the worker make sure they match up so he doesn't have to do the work twice.
