Default bad coolant temp sensor

i have a ls swap converted to obd1 and i was seeing how can i tell if my coolant temp sensor is bad.......


when i start my car in the morning it runs pig rich and idels at 1k so i have to rev it to 3.5k to warm it up and i have to do that for about 10-15mins then the cel comes on and it runs perfect!!!!!


could that be a bad coolant temp sensor?

well i think 1k its where it should be at. You might just want to replace the sensor. or it could also be the tps sensor. which both of them are not that expensive. if you getting both of the codes just go and fix it before the problems gets worst.

What is the code you are getting. It sounds like you have a cold starting issue. It could be the coolant temp sensor. If the sensor is bad the cel would be on all the time and run rich at all times. What is your gas mileage like. what are you using for ems are you using. Are you sure your wiring is right.

the cel comes on after it warms up, im getting about 24mpg, yea the wiring is good

how do i check it? i dont have a blinking light or anything like how my b16 did

if i remember right there is a light blue plug under glove box or in the pass side kick panel use a paper clip or something and plug it into the two spots and if you did it right turn the key on but dont start it and count the cel on the dash.

check the code . on the obd1 conversion harness it should have 2 wires that you need to touch together or run them to a switch to check the codes

ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature) defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor Check the wiring if its ok then replace the ect.
