Default B16a into 89 DX Summer Project

Hey guys,

I'm thinking it's about that time to get my old 89 Civic DX sedan back on the road after over 7 years of sitting. I've been driving my DSM for those years, but I'm fairly new to the whole Honda thing. I have a lot of questions on this, as I plan to tackle this project in about 3 weeks. I'll be asking more questions as they come, but I'm hoping some of you may have some answers for me.

First, my civic has a D15 with DPFI. I would like to swap a B16a for a little more "umph" for a DD. I've been searching and read many links on the topic:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/detailed-b-series-into-crx-ef-civic-parts-list-more-2769325/
http://hondaswap.com/swap-articles/d...writeup-49557/
http://hondacrx881.tripod.com/mpfiswap.html

Some current questions (I have plenty, but I'll keep this first post short and to the point)

1. I need to first switch to MPFI. I read the write ups, but for this swap, what will I need exactly? I've read a lot of supplies, but I don't think I'll need ALL of the things as I'll be swapping the motor out. Will the item pictured below (under "Electrical") be sufficient? It's from someone who makes these harnesses and sells them.

2. Will this come with all I need (besides mounts, axles, ac bracket, shift linkages): http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30001

I plan on keeping AC (it's a must!). I also want to do routine maintenance on the motor before the drop, such as timing belt, clutch(maybe), drain the gas tank, change fuel filter/rotten hoses, etc.

I've been doing some more reading, searching, and adding, and this is becoming very pricey. So far, without clutch kit/flywheel resurface, exhaust, tires, ac system charge, and misc items, it is costing me $3188. Is this worth doing? Am I finding all the expensive stuff? I don't want to cross the line on bad quality, so I've listed parts I found as reliable and quality sources.

Fuel
OEM Fuel Filter ~$40

Also, do people buy old D15 motors/transmissions? Do I just drop off the old stuff at a junkyard or leave them out front for someone to grab?

Can anyone identify these wheels? Someone stole a lugnut cover on one of the wheels, and I'd like to hunt one down if possible

Thanks!

Honestly, I don't see what problems I could really run into. I emailed the guy and he seems to have been doing this for a very long time now, so I trust he knows what he's doing. Plus, as long as the wires are connected to the correct plug, it's pretty hard to screw up. I personally just don't want to deal with the wiring process to save me time and effort.

Icon2 D16a6/ B16a Swap

I have sort of the same project but a liitle different. I have a CRX 89 that I just bought and I eventually want to swap engines. It is stock with the D16a6 and from reading differnt threads I'm guessing the B16a SIR is the best swap for my CRX si. So my question is what all do I need and how much of a pain is it and is the B16a the best option? I eventually want to put a turbo on it, but i dont want to get to far ahead of myself just yet. Not sure if this is the right way of asking , im new to the forum thing and ive been searching for the right thread and cant find exactly what im looking for. just dont want dump alot of money in the wrong parts. Thanks guys.

Well for one, you need to do a lot of what I've been doing: searching, reading, writing down notes/prices/options, creating a budget, and then getting outside advice. Make a list, and have others check it. You'll be doing the work, so it's up to you whether or not it will be a pain. Once you've done that, feel free to start your own thread and get more advice there. I'm spending a bit more money than necessary to avoid pains and possible problems I'd run into.

I think I'm pretty set on purchasing everything I have listed this weekend. Some things that aren't really cleared up yet is how I am to clean the gas tank from sitting so long. Ideas? Should I pull the fuel pump and check that filter that's attached to it?

I also found out those rims are momo. I think while I wait for the parts to come in, I'll pull the engine out and possibly spray the bay (and possibly the body. I'm thinking with the condition of the body, I can't really screw up learning how to paint a car.

This was the condition 7 years ago. Paint is pretty much more faded now. I want to respray it red, but add the factory black line around the car.

Interior is still fairly clean:

After doing more reading, will I need to get this T-bracket? http://www.inlinefour.com/oemtbracmoun.html

Will I need a new throttle cable? or will this adapter work: (I don't know if the b16 I'm getting has a Integra GSR intake manifold - see link) http://www.swapshopracing.com/contents/en-us/p3472.html

Also, I can't find an OEM Fuel Filter anywhere for my car. Anyone have a good source? The ones available here don't give my car as an option: http://www.inlinefour.com/oemhooilfi.html
