Default B16a CRX (obd1 running obd1 injectors) problem!

This is a bit difficult, because my dad is troubleshooting our build and im in VA (hes in NJ) but ill try my best to relay the info.

We just swapped a b16a obd1 engine into a 1990 CRX DX. We got the rywire harness and everything, and the engine is turning over and there is spark but the injectors are not firing. He checked the fuel rail and fuel is getting there fine, but the injectors themselves are not functional. Could this have bearing on the TDC sensor or the crank sensor not being hooked up right? if so, where are those sensors on the engine so i can relay the info to my dad

Just need some ideas as to why the injectors arent firing. Thanks!

are you getting a pulse signal to the injectors?

tps is on the throttle body.

i think the crank sensor is in the dizzy but im not 100% sure.

Is it hot outside right now. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on (not cranking just on) When the Check engine light is on you can kind of hear the fuel pump then under the dash on the left kick panel you can hear the main relay click at the exact moment the engine light goes off. If you can't hear the pump or the relay click try a different relay. Next I would ask are you using the resistor box. If so you need to remove it and connect the 5 wires. OBD1 injectors do not use the resistor box.

Ok your not using the resistor box. Have him check to see if getting 12+v to the yellow/black or red/black wires depending on what the injectors clips came from. With Key on there needs to be 12v on one wire at all times. If not 12v check to see if there is 12v on the IACV on the back of manifold.

He just measured the injectors and said there was around 5 volts to the injectors. So its the IACV ya think? what else should i look for that would cause that 5 volt

I had the exact same problem with my obd1 gsr in my crx. I have the rywire converted engine harness with a locash racing ecu adapter. A few of the distributior wires where swaped ( due to locash and rywire using diffrent ways then eachother). I changed them and it started right up! Also If something inside you dizzy is not right that could prevent the ecu from spraying the injectors.

RESOLVED!

One of the connectors was not hooked up right. Was a ground for the thermostat which is also a main ground for the dizzy. Connected it and it fired up for the first time

Thanks guys!

Good deal. Glad it started. I was saying check the IACV for 12 volts because it shares the same positive signal from the ECU. If you have 12 volts there and not to the injectors something is wrong in the wiring.
