Alternator Whine???
I have a 1990 CRX that just started to make a whining noise around the timing belt/alternator area. Noise happens while car is moving and sitting still. Alternator and timing belt have been done in the past 3 years and the alternator belt has correct tension on it. What could the culprit be?

Re: Alternator Whine???
You can check if its the alternator bearing by removing the alternator belt, run or drive the car, if the noise is gone its the alternator bearing, but theres not too many other things it could be unless you have AC and /or power steering.

Re: Alternator Whine???
Remove the A/C belt as previously stated, and listen again for the noise.
(If your A/C stopped working, your A/C compressor clutch could have failed, and is causing the noise. )
