Default 88 CRX LCA or 89 CRX LCA

any one with after market rear LCA experience. im looking to get some function7. i own a 88 si. do i need to keep with the same design or can i get the 89 design and change the shock and swaybar. thank you in advance..

88 - 91 ed/ef shock forks, upper and lower front control arms are the same. The rears are the ones that either came with a hole in the lower control arm for a rear sway bar or it didnt. Now you can use EG forks to use EG shocks if you want....they'll bolt on straight to the ed/ef front lower control arm.

my question was bout rear lca's. sorry not to making that clear. the 88 are a stamped lca instead of cast, they take eye-bolt rear shocks instead of the 89 fork type. i was told that if i switch then i lose my stock si rear sway bar cause its different design. but the lca fits no problem. so i proposed to switch to everything from an 89. any one with experience.

swaybar mounting position is the same. as long as you get Si rear lca.

If you get after market lcas you have to get adjustable end links to use your sway bar regardless of what style you get.. I've found koni yellows are cheaper for 88s tho so if your looking to upgrade those sticking with the 88 style may be beneficial

i might be staying with the 88. they only want 60 bucks more for the 88 style from function7.

I am doing a full rear disk swap on my '88 Si using EG rear disks, and the struts are new so I'm using those too. I prefer the 89+ style myself but I do have to say -- It's way easier to get the bolts out of the '88 style strut bottoms! I've already broken three bolts off of 89+ style bottoms. They like to seize in the bushing.

I totally forgot bout those paint in the **** bolts. just thinking bout that makes those 60$ worth it. though i doubt ill ever let the bolts freeze up once i put my F7 LCA's on. PB blaster is your friend.

Yeah. The ones I've broken have been on the cars since they were made, probably. Definitely the upsale point of the 88 style.
