Default 91 crx si/car dies at an idle

i have a 91 crx si. the problem just started like an hour ago and its died like 6 times. it has a problem starting. when I start it it tries to die almost immediately and I have to give it gas. I just had to replace the alternator twice havent really had time to look at anything. so any help would be appreciated.

It's probably your throttle/throttle body. Just a hunch. The same exact thing happened to me on my Gti. But it is Volkswagen, and not Honda, so I could be wrong.

I'd get a second opinion from someone with more experience. This is just from personal experience.
From what you say, I'm assuming that when you start the car up, it doesn't even idle, and instead loses all its' revs and dies?
And is this just when you first start it up, or does it stop after driving for a bit?

It happened after i drove over to a friends house and sat in my car while it was running. After it dies its kinda hard to start up and i can just heard the starter clicking. I just got home and sat outside and let it idle for about 10 min and ran fine. Could it be the fule pump or filter??

It could be. Like I said, I'd definitely get a second opinion.

any CEL? be methodical. do one thing at a time. that way you know what fixed it.

I agree about the throttle body. It sounds like when the throttle is completely closed the engine is starved of air (oxygen) and then dies. When you give the car gas what you are actually doing is giving it air. Not gas. The ECU gives the engine gas.

1. start by removing the throttle body. give it a good cleaning using throttle body cleaner. clean all the little tiny holes. and let it dry in the sun.

Start there. Report back.

Replacing the fuel filter is always a good idea too. If it has been awhile.

UPDATE:
car was runnig fine for a while and I was driving it on the highway and it died when I stoped at the light on the off ramp. got to where I was going fine and got back on the high way amd it died while I was driving. no cel, didnt over heat, just lost all power. so im guessing its not my iacv anymore. could be fuel related?
