Ok So here's a background story. 1990 Honda civic with a 1.5... roughly 230k on the motor. I bought the car without a clutch cable, I don't know crap about hondas so I put the clutch cable on wrong... yes that's possible apparently. When I put the cable on wrong it was really hard to push the clutch in and out. After a little while of this I figured out I put the cable on wrong and put it on the right way. Clutch worked great after that, until now. It's been getting harder and harder to push in, and I keep having to tighten it until it wont tighten any more. looked underneath and this is what I saw... I'm assuming the pivot point of the clutch pedal is broken. Has this happened to anyone else and is this something that I can fix with a part from the junkyard? It looks like a big assembly I'm hoping its not attatched to the body... btw the pedal is at a weird angle now too
Honestly I cannot tell what im looking at... I do know that whatever you cracked in the middle of the pic needs to ne replaced. You do however need to move the pedal while looking at that spot to see what it does or doesnt do.
thanks for the link i really appreciate it! what I think i'm gonna do is head out to the junkyard today and see if I can dig one up... hopefully its relatively easy....... the hardest part seems like it's going to be getting to the f****** thing...
thanks for the link... I'm going to try and pry it back in place, see if it drives like it used to, then put it back in place again and have my friend weld it... Hopefully he can weld it without taking the whole thing out, but I really doubt it. I just don't really have the time to take my whole friggin car apart but if I have to I will.
haha yeah i kind of figured i would have to take it out... I have the front seat out and a couple blankets laid down to save my back... Im going to try and do it without taking the dash apart.
i just had been thru this exact situation bro..Mine broke just like urs.I welded it back together but then it started to lean to one side after a week. so eventually i just picked up. a used pedal bracket assembly. It started to brake again! i did sum research and i am now using a DA clutch cable and its working beautifuly. Before i had the DA clutch cable my stock EF one felt like i had a stage 2 clutch.i have a bseries motor and i think that the extra length on the DA cable works to our advantage! Hope it goes well and u consider a DA clutch cable
how much did it cost? yeah i think i'm gonna weld the s*** out of it and reinforce it in some areas and see if that works.... i'm pretty much on a $0 budget right now ha ha. if it doesn't work i'll keep that in mind thanks
i did it!!!!!!!!!! i got the pedal cluster out... more like a clusterf**k... i didn't i had to take all 3 pedals out. at least the gas pedal came out with that cotter pin. the fun part is going to be putting it all back together.....now time to weld the hell out of it.
