1.5 TIMING MARKS
Please verify if i am right. Under the hood it says that the timing should be at 18deg/btdc. The red mark should be 18deg the left mark if standing at drivers side wheel is +20deg and the right mark before the tdc is +16deg. motor spinning ccw the first mark should be +20deg. the book I am using does not show any pictures! helm book is on the way.

Re: 1.5 TIMING MARKS (88DXCRX)
Thanks I printed it out and can read it perfectly. I wonder why my hood says to set at 18deg and this page says to set a california car at 14deg. i will take 18 over 14 any day. thanks again. this site is very helpful when the questions are serious. Your time is appreciated.

Re: 1.5 TIMING MARKS (zmeli)
which motor? i think most b series are 16 degrees as the base timing so the marks are 14, 16, 18. The Z6 is 16 degrees also. But the A6 is 18 degrees base timing and the Y8 is 14 degrees base timing. So it all depends on the engine you are talking about, but the center line is always going to be the factory set base timing mark no matter what.
