They are nissan terms. Actually to explain it better, Zenki and Kouki were actually two variants of rpS14 240sx's. The Zenki was referred to the earlier years that the S14 was manufactured (1995-1996). The Kouki S14's were the later year S14's (1997-1998).
The same thing with the rpS13 model 240sx's. Except one different variant. They were divided with the earlier years called Zenki aka Pignose front end (1989-1990). Then the different variant for the later model S13, Chuki (1991-1994).

EK4 refers to all '96-00 Civic 3dr and 4dr (but not 2dr) models with a B16A engine.
EK9 refers to a '96-00 Civic 3dr with a B16B engine.
They are not sequential in any way.

lol, it is not nissan specific.
it is just a term or a word like stated above to distinguish between model changes within a generation, toyota, and mazda also use it.
