y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??

y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
I got a hold of a 1999 civic ex shell.
I also got a D16Y7 from a 1998 that I was thinking on putting in it.
I just got a few questions could I use the harness from the y8 on the y7?
and with the exhaust manifold from the y8 on the y7?
and i have a 1999 ecu for the y7.
it does have the y8 catalytic coverter and everything on there with both o2 sensors thats why i want to use the y8 exhaust manifold.
any idea what will happen?

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
When you say "shell" that means you have no engine in it correct? The Y8 harness will work on the Y7, you'll have to modify the IACV connector and make it 3 wire unless the shell is an automatic. The Y8 manifold will work as well as long as you have both O2s hooked up. You'll have some extra plugs left over for VTEC and the knock sensor.

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
He's saying EXHAUST manifold, guys. NOT the intake manifold.
Are there issues with the Y8 exhaust manifold?
Probably not, and if you're using the Y8 wire harness, you won't have to get wire extensions for the O2 sensors either.
As long as you have the complete exhaust system (which is seems you do), there shouldn't be any issues (though I'd personally spring for a better aftermarket exhaust manifold/system than the restrictive stock Y8 one)
My 2 cents ^^

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
youll be fine as long as you are using the ex full exhaust, header will bolt right on to your y7, and line up perfectly with the ex exhaust system. the harness is fine, and you will throw a cel on the y8 ecu, not with the y7. you will need the intake arm for the y7 as well.

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
alright just making sure thanks.
If your in California. Which 49 out of 50 your not. Youll need a different exhaust system with a manifold cat. because I have a d16y7 and i am currently in the process of working on my exhaust. and thought i could just get a header, cat and catback exhaust and call it good. but its illegal here to move the position of a catalytic converter. so youll need a y7 oem manifold cat or aftermarket manifold cat. just a heads up if your in the wonderful emissions state of califonia

Wait so I have a 96 lx with I believe a y8 EM & cat (I say I believe because its not the one connected with the cat )
I purchased the car like this, would the car fail smog? No CEL

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
If you don't have a cel, I don't see why you wouldn't pass smog, just make sure the bulb isn't blown or someone took it out. I've been down that road a few times. My 98 lx with the y7 has a aftermarket header, no cat and Im not getting any codes

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
Ok cool thanks! I don't think its blown or missing. The light shows up when I click the key in once. Does that mean its fine?
Im going to try and smog it now so we'll see!

Re: y7 with y8 exhaust manifold??
Well the cat part passed but it came up with codes p0700 and p0720 causing it to fail :/
I replaced the vss and still nothing. Also my mileage odometer stopped spinning. Is that relevant?
