Wiring headlight to have low and high beams on
I was driving at night and my high beams were too high but my low beams are to low to see everything. My question is can the headlights be wired to have the low and high beams on when i turn the high beams on and only low beams on low. Thanks for the help!

there is a lot of reasoning behind why the low beams turn off, and a lot has to do with your eye's ability to adjust to light. i had a long talk with a lighting guy when i was talking about fogs for my truck, and he was saying that at night, the low beams will effect your ability to judge distance when you're trying to see farther. i would say get a better set of bulbs and make sure your lamps are adjusted properly.

The only way to do this would be with a toggle switch... The hi and lo beams use the same ground but have a different 12v supply voltage.. Now if both had separate grounds, it would be possible..
I would suggest getting a set of HIDs... I have the factory headlights with 4300k HIDs, my car is low enough that the glare doesn't bother other drivers..

They said maybe if they had different gound which i dont understand its not the ground its the power source that matters and sorry im not putting a switch in and i already know how to adjust the level. I was wondering if anyone had wired a relay or something. face it you came in like an a$$ and thought you were all that. Go to bed YOU FAIL!!!!

Re: Wiring headlight to have low and high beams on
your highs and lows are in one beam not like a integra, accord tec where there are two so the easiest option would be a hid retrofit or a hid kit.

Re: Wiring headlight to have low and high beams on
A couple of thoughts to the OP (and I haven't done this conversion).
You could use a Bosch relay and back feed power into the low beams by using the high beam signal to close the relay. I have done this with my Hella driving lights on my Porsche 912E and Jeep Cherokee (driving lights on only when high beams are on). A one-way diode on the low beam circuit may be needed to keep from back feeding to the Honda's light switch. Run a new, fused, power wire to the relay which will then power up the low beams.
A possible problem, I can see when running both the low and high beams on at the same time, is pumping 115 watts (55W low + 60W high) of heat into the plastic headlight housing. It may melt!!!

What youre trying to do is illegal on the street and will blow your bulbs out. Just do a HID retrofit instead of arguing with everyone. check out Retrofitsource.com

Re: Wiring headlight to have low and high beams on
On my setup there are two different bulbs. One for low and one for highs. when i click and hold the lever to change it they both come on.
ill take a pic with both on
why would it be illegal to have both on at the same time?
I am kinda worried about them melting too.

Re: Wiring headlight to have low and high beams on
It is very possiable but very un safe as others have made clear. you are gonna be producing way to much heat inside the civic's light housing and you will be going through bulbs like you do your underwear. Just adjust your headlights or get an HID kit.

Re: Wiring headlight to have low and high beams on
Just for people reading in the future..yes you can do this. You have to wire your low beams together then to a toggle switch then to a fused 12v source. Then when your brights are on you hit the toggle switch and it turns on your low beams. I think it works great and have ran it for years. It never overheated anything or blew anything. Although I do have glass headlights as I have a 95 civic.
ps dude did say use a toggle switch lol
