Wiring GSR head for lsvtec...ecu wiring question
i bought a gsr head and i am planning on swapping that on my obd1 ls bottom end. I understand that i will have to run wires for vtec to the ecu but the gsr intake manifold has IAB that need to be wired. I obviously plan on getting a chipped vtec ecu and tuning but does the ecu have to be a p72 to be able to hook the butteflies up? is it absolutely necessary to hook the butterflies up ( i have no idea what they do lol)
also i realize that the dizzy and the iacv will need to be rewired... but since it is obd1 i dont have a knock sensor...is there a way in the ecu to disable the knock sensor so it doesnt throw a code?

The ecu would have to be a p72 or have the components added to the ecu to make the butterflies work. The gsr intake manifold basically has 2 airflow paths inside of it, a longer one for low rpms and a shorter one for higher rpms. It helps torque at lower rpms. If you have a chipped ecu you can disable the knock sensor. I personally added the knock sensor to my lsvtec but that is your choice.

Re: Wiring GSR head for lsvtec...ecu wiring question
so wiring the butterflies is not necessary? i already have a p28 so i did not want to have to get another ecu if it wasnt absolutely necessary...
thanks!
thanks!
